Mark was distracted from his work, his co-worker noticed it too, he was asking questions, too many for Mark's liking, he wanted to just snap at the guy, just to tell him to shut his damn trap, but something made him hold his tongue and it plastered an annoyed expression upon his young face, really, was it any of this guy's business what he had been doing recently or what he was feeling?
"Well, if you ever need to talk..." The man patted Mark's shoulders, rough enough to make the young adult grunt, "I'm here for you bud."
"Yeah." He snarled, turning back to his register, 'just leave me alone.' He thought, looking towards the window, sighing. He couldn't ignore the fact that Luke had probably left his place, why did it make him feel so disappointed? He should be overjoyed that he wasn't going to have to see his annoying face for the rest of the day. But...after all these years did he really still care about him? Even though Luke had done back things to him...Mark still wasn't fit to be in any kind of relationship with Luke.
"Excuse me sir!" Mark snapped himself from his thoughts, looking to his customer, who seemed annoyed that this cashier hadn't been paying attention to him, "Twenty for pump-" He froze, tilting his head slightly to get a look at Mark's face, recognition dawned in them, "You."
Instantly, the night when he crossed paths with Luke again, the man he sent groveling on the ground. Uncontrollable rage boiled up in Mark's veins, he snatched a hold of the front of the man's shirt, pulling him into the counter. Being so close, Mark took notice to similar features this man had with him, same sandy hair, same dark eyes, only his were large and bright, not at all menacing as Mark's could be.
"Yes, Me." He growled, the man tried to pull himself free, but Mark held on, "What's your name?"
The man was silent until Mark gave him a violent shake, "Samson! Sorry, uhm, are you and Luke seeing each other or something?! He never mentioned you sorry!"
Mark shook him again so he'd stop his stammering. "How do you know him...?"
"Who, Luke?"
"Who else shit for brains?" Mark didn't relinquish his grip any, once he figured out what they were or rather had been Mark would make the decision whether to pummel him or let him leave with just the haunting memory of his face. Anything over acquaintances would definitely end in his ass being kicked.
"We go to the same University!" he glanced around, "Look." Down towards Mark's name tag, "Mark? Mark, we were just friends, I swear, I didn't-" Mark clenched his other fist, he could see Samson take notice to that, "It was all one-sided!"
Mark sighed, "Twenty for pump..." He glanced out the window, "Three?" He let Samson go, snatching the money from his hand, the bewildered college student ran, stumbling out the door.
Surprisingly, over this whole ordeal, Mark's co-worker had managed to stay quiet and just watch the scene unfold before him, "Boss isn't going to be pleased when he sees and hears about this."
Mark smirked, "It was worth it."
Anything to scare somebody away from his prey.

Luke really felt desperate now, he had left Mark's apartment, having a feeling he wouldn't be returning for a while, but he only came back a couple hours later and with cleaning supplies, cleaning was a duty that Mark seemed to neglect and when spending the night there, it drove Luke up a wall.
