In the room, John is standing near the computer, Lucy is standing near the couch and Jake has just entered the room. The room is in flight. Jake is very confused.
Jake:
"What? What? How? How is this... this is not the room that's supposed to be here."
Jake turns around and tries to open the door. The door won't even budge. Jake pulls on it harder, still doesn't manage to open it.
Lucy:
"What are you doing here? You have got to be kidding me."
John:
"I'll just let you deal with this."
Jake:
"Deal with what?"
Lucy:
"You might want to take a seat."
Jake:
"No, we might want to get out of this place. There was a foreshock of an earthquake, we have to leave now. It has been that kind of day."
Lucy:
"Yeah about that. Those weren't foreshocks. As I said, you might want to take a seat."
Jake looks at Lucy, confused. Jake slowly walks over to the couch and sits down. Lucy sits down next to him.
Lucy:
"If a stupid person or an infant goes into an aeroplane and couldn't see the windows during the flight what would he think happened?"
Jake:
"How is this related to...."
Lucy interrupts Jake
Lucy:
"Just think about it for a second. Try to feel it."
Lucy pauses for a moment.
Lucy:
"They would feel the ground underneath them shake like what they might expect from an earthquake, then the doors would be impossible to open without dying by falling out. In the end, there would be one more earthquake after which they will be able to open the doors safely, but will have magically teleported to a different place. This room is a time machine. It can travel anywhere in space and time."
Jake:
"And I am the stupid infant?"
Lucy:
"Your words not mine, I said stupid person or infant."
Jake just sits there, with his eyes wide open, a blank look on his face and a dropped jaw. John walks over to the couch and crouches to look Jake into the eyes.
John:
"Culture shock is hard, isn't it?"
Jake:
"I'll choose what to think once you get those doors open."
John uses his finger to shut Jake's mouth.
John:
"You should keep that closed. A fly might go in. Not that this place has any flies. Don't worry, we will land in about 3 minutes. We should be at the infinite bungee jumper. The top of the building has a portal opened to its bottom and they are connected. You can fall forever and not hit the ground."
Jake:
"There are portals too! How do they work? Einstein-Rosen Bridges?"
Lucy:
