I Remember You

Chapter 4

TWs: Alcohol/intoxication, breakdown

"Ok, it's on, do you hear it?" Karl asks him, bouncing in excitement

"Yeah, I hear it," Dream responds, sounding nervous.

"C'mon Dream, this one's for you and me," Karl says, as he positions himself in the center of the stage. Dream stands off to the side, giving him an anxious look.

Karl gives Dream one last look as he begins to sing. Before it could get to Dream's part, he tells Karl, "I can't do this. I'm not singing a duet with you." When it gets to his part, he runs off, hiding in the rows of benches.

Karl continues singing, hoping Dream will change his mind and join him. Karl's face falls as Dream runs off, saddened by the ruined duet. Suddenly, Sapnap swoops in, taking Dream's place. Karl's face erupts into a giant smile as he and Sapnap finish out the song, grinning and dancing as they go, earning applause and cheers from their friends.

Quackity wandered along the path to Sapnap and Karl's house, singing to himself quietly and kicking stones around. His mind is empty as he takes in his surroundings. The giant mushroom buildings loom over him, shimmering from the morning dew. The air is cool, even in a jacket, but it is not aggressively cold, more of a light breeze.

The sound of his name in the distance redirects his focus. He catches sight of two figures running up to him excitedly, almost skipping as they approached.

"Sapnap? Karl? What are you guys doing, I thought I was meeting you at your place?" Quackity asks in confusion.

"We were too excited to wait for you, so we decided to come to you!" Karl exclaims, bouncing up and down. Sapnap chuckles lightly, nodding his head.

Quackity smiles at Karl, his heart swelling. The sight of Karl bouncing excitedly in front of him fills him with indescribable joy, one he can hardly contain but still shoves away to the corners of his mind.

"Well, I guess we better head off then," Quackity says, leading the way.

"Can you tell us where we're going now?" Sapnap pleads, his question coming out almost like a whine.

"I told you it was a surprise. Just wait until we get there," Quackity responds, a teasing smile spreading across his face. Sapnap pouts, flipping Quackity off before crossing his arms over his chest as he follows Quackity's lead out of Kinoko.

Once they got close to the area, Quackity told the two to shut their eyes, not quite finished torturing Sapnap with the anticipation yet. Sapnap objects to this but Quackity forces his hand, standing still until he reluctantly puts his hands over his eyes with a huff.

Quackity takes the duo's hands, leading them up onto a platform. Quackity takes a second to look around at the row of benches and the sprawling stage in front of him, taking a deep breath before he tells the two to look.

"Ok, on the count of three. One, two, two and a half, two and a quarter," Quackity announces, furthering teasing Sapnap.

"Q! Just say to already," Sapnap whines, receiving a giggle from Karl.

"Ok, three!" Quackity shouts. Karl and Sapnap quickly pull their hands off their faces, marveling at the sight in front of them. Sapnap lets out a chuckle as a smile takes over his face. Karl looks around in awe, admiring the stage especially.

"The karaoke stage! I totally forgot this was here. Dude, we used to have so much fun here," Sapnap gushed, looking around at the platform.

Karl continued to glance around, his lack of recognition noticeable on his face. Quackity sighed at this, making his way over to the jukebox. Scanning through the disks, he pulls out a bright blue one, blowing it off before popping it in. Soft acoustic guitar flows out of the speakers as Quackity runs up to the stage, grabbing the microphone off of the stand. Sapnap immediately recognizes the tune as "Hey There Delilah", a classic choice for Quackity at karaoke nights. Quackity starts to sing, changing up the words as he goes along.
