TWs: Swearing, fighting
"Karl, your final task is to take the bite of truth," Sapnap states. Quackity nods in agreement as Sapnap hands him a spider eye.
"Guys wait, let me think about this," Karl says apprehensively.
"Karl, there is no thinking in it," Sapnap replies as he lays down a line of string. "That'll help you."
Karl quickly accepts the string and bites into the spider eye, trying to get it over with as soon as possible. He instantly feels ill, clutching his stomach as the poison starts to drain his health.
"Will he survive?" Sapnap asks Quackity, worry and excitement mixing in his question.
"Let's find out," Quackity responds calmly, staring at Karl. Soon, Karl removes his hands from his stomach, gaping at the ground.
"Karl, how do you feel?" Quackity asks, his voice calm and even.
"I feel like the president of Mexican L'manburg!" Karl exclaims, a grin plastered on his face.
"No, no, no," Quackity says chuckling. Sapnap launches himself at Karl, bringing Quackity with him to drag the trio into a giant hug.
"Sap, wake uppppp," Karl whines as he pokes the sleeping man's face for the millionth time that morning.
"Ugh, fine, just stop poking me," Sapnap grumbles, opening his eyes. His eyes quickly find Karl's, which are bright and filled with excitement. Sapnap admires his fiancé for a second, taking in his enthusiasm and delight.
Karl hopped off the bed, jumping around the room as he began throwing Sapnap's clothes onto the floor. Sapnap watched him sleepily, taking in the pure joy in front of him. When Karl's memory had begun to fail, his energy seemed to go with it. He seemed more tired and less enthusiastic every day. Sapnap noticed it in his increasing bland "good mornings", in his tendency to lay on the couch more often than he used to, in his earlier and earlier bedtimes. Permanent eye bags had become a staple on the man's face. His joyful energy had become muted, seeming to take more out of him than it was worth.
As Karl danced around the room, humming a song to himself, Sapnap realized that this was the first time in months he had seen his fiancé so excited to get out of bed. For once he was embracing the start of a new day, not fighting to leave their shared room. The more he thought about it, Sapnap realized Karl's energy and mood had been so much better since Quackity arrived and started taking them on adventures. He had noticed the colors other than purple returning to Karl's complexion, the more frequent smiles that crossed his face, the welcomed bouts of laughter and giggles that erupted from his fiancé. Sapnap was overjoyed to hear his fiancé laugh again, especially as often and as hearty as he has been lately.
Sapnap felt a tug on his arm, pulling him out of his thoughts. Before he could process the movement, he was dragged out of bed and onto his feet. He whined instantly at the cold as his blankets fell back onto the bed. Karl smirked at him, pulling him along as he threw clothes at the younger to change into.
The rest of the morning followed this pattern of Sapnap being dragged along through his morning routine by an excited Karl. The two made it out the door in record time, even though Sapnap had a toothpaste stain on the front of his shirt and Karl's shoelaces weren't tied. Karl ran ahead of Sapnap down the path to Quackity's house, holding his arms out as the wind tickled his exposed skin. A lazy butterfly followed him, floating around his head as he made the journey to Quackity's. Sapnap grinned as he trailed along behind Karl, basking in his fiancé's incessant joy.
