Chapter 5-
Suddenly, the room falls silent, and everyone looks on at the scene with petrified expressions.
"Is she alright?" Sulpicia asks worriedly, as she watches Marcus carry Didyme over to a nearby bench, and places her weak form on top of it.
"I'm not sure," Marcus replies as he kneels next to his mate, and I just stand there feeling far more than just awkward.
Marcus kneels and caresses her cheek, and all I can think of as he does is of how much I would give just to be able to hold Cassia in my arms again. I just can't imagine a life without her and knowing that she's somewhere, we can't even track, worries me to no extent.
Minutes pass and silence is all that fills the halls, though I'm sure the vampires in the room are having a conversation far too low for me to pick up on.I thought the silence would continue on forever, but then I hear a shuffling noise and then a muffled hello, coming from I presume Didyme, as she is now slowly sitting up with the help of Marcus, whilst Sulpicia and Athenodora continue to fuss over her.
"Mia amore, are you okay?" Marcus asks Didyme as she tries to stand.
"Yes I'm fine,"
But Aro seems to think differently based upon his next comment, "Clearly you're not sister, you just fainted, which is unheard of for vampires, so tell us what's the matter with you." Aro is stern with his voice, as Didyme attempts to stand, and places her hand on Marcus' shoulder for support.
"Please brother, not now, we have more important matters to deal with, like finding my niece and your daughter." Her voice is strained and quiet, but you can tell she is serious.
"Didyme please just tell us what's wrong, yes we have to find Cassia, but we can't do that if you're unwell," Sulpicia urges her.
"Yes Di, just tell us what's wrong," Athenodora insists as well.
"I'm not unwell, but just listen closely," Didyme instructs us all, and to be honest even I'm confused by that, what could we listen to that would help diagnose her?
Clearly everyone thinks the same as me, but no one voices their opinions. Even though I'm sure I know a certain blonde vampire woman, with plenty to say, and no I don't mean Sulpicia. Yes, I'm looking at you Athenodora.
For a moment we all just stand again in silence, but this time it isn't complete silence, instead I could hear something, very faint and fragile. It sounded almost like a, no way, like a heartbeat. Almost the same as Cassia's, but this one was fainter.
"It's not possible," Aro exclaims in shock and everyone's faces turn to pure amazement.
"Mi amore, are you?" Marcus asks Didyme, and she simply nods her head yes, with a smile plastered on her face, a smile that seemed even happier than her usual. I'm positive she would have cried, if she were capable.
"Yes Marcus I am, I'm pregnant, and we're going to have a baby" She tells us all, with such joy, but focuses mostly on Marcus.
Immediately Sulpicia starts jumping up and down squealing and Athenodora looks just as happy, though I don't believe she'd be neither caught dead squealing nor jumping. Aro just stands there in plain shock, whilst Marcus starts to hug his wife, and I'm, well I'm just standing there, a bit out of place and thinking of Cassia.
"How is this possible? How long have you known?" Aro asks perplexed, "I'm not too sure, and just a few days. The heartbeat and sickness were big giveaways. But right now it doesn't matter, we still have to find my niece, and the dog boy is starting to feel a bit uncomfortable."
Oh great now she's started with the dog jokes, "Oh not you too, uhhhhh" I moan at her and she just chuckles and responds with, "Oi, I'm pregnant and I can say what I want thank you very much."
"It seems someone's hormones are kicking in early, oh remember how Cia was when she was pregnant with Cassia, she had a very light fuse." And of course, there's that voice that I've just been waiting for her, to put her to pence in.
"And still do Dora, so watch your mouth!" Sulpicia growls slightly, "Oh, please don't tell me you're pregnant now too, I don't know how I'd cope?" Athenodora groans sarcastically, causing everyone to laugh, even Aro.
Right, awkward situation over, now it's time to find my Princess. "So where's the next clue?" I ask both Aro and Sulpicia, with determination.
"Spain!" Sulpicia exclaims and right then and there I was off, even though I didn't have a clue where I was going.
The trip from Paris to Madrid is short, a mere 20 minutes, when compared to the other trips. We have to stop halfway to allow Didyme time to rest, which personally I am not too keen on, because I am more focused on finding Cassia, but I understand why we need to do it.
We are all finally in Madrid and one step closer to finding Cassia. The clue takes us to a place called the Plaza Mayor, which looks incredible. Although she argues, we leave Didyme with Marcus at a nearby hotel, so she can rest and Marcus can get over the fact that he's going to be a father. I hope, with all my heart, that Cassia will be here.
