Jo's POV:
It had been a week since I'd last spoken to Hero. Not that he hadn't tried. He called at least three times every day and send countless texts that asked me to please call him back. It may have been cruel to go this long, but I was angry, hurt and everything in between. Not only had he managed to make me cry from his insinuating tone and choice of words, he also made me mad at myself, thanks to his parting words.
"If you're not too worried about people finding out about us."
Every time I thought about them, it was like a knife through my chest. That wasn't the case and he knew it. But did he? If he had said such a god awful thing?
I loved Hero. More than I knew I ever could. I had opened myself up to him and given him parts of me no one else would ever.. could ever have. I'd almost had a baby with the guy for God's sake. And not once had I ever given him reason to believe that I wasn't his. Just like he had said.
The more I thought about it, the more sadness took a back seat to the rage making its way in. He had never tried to control me like this. Probably because deep down, he knew he never could. We were supposed to be equals. In this together. But right now, our relationship or whatever this was was anything but.
After organizing my closet, mindlessly for what felt like hours, my phone began ringing on top of the desk in my room. Glancing over my shoulder at it, visions of Hero and I, naked on top of it after a certain interview flooded my mind. Goosebumps rose on my skin as I remembered the way his hands felt on me. How they possessed me. Held me as he ravished my body for both of our pleasure. It had been over a week since I'd even touched myself, let alone Hero. The memory of it nearly sedated me.
But the incessant ringing and vibrating my phone was making ripped my mind out of the haze and I managed to pick it up before the ringing stopped.
"Hey.." I signed into the phone, nearly out of breath just from previously thinking about the things we had done in this very spot.
"Joey! Please tell me you're free this afternoon," Kathrine chirped into the phone.
"Free for what?" I asked hesitantly. The tone of her voice indicated she was excited about something. Lord help us all.
"To hang out with your favorite sister and have some fun.."
"You're my only sister. And I think you and I have different ideas of fun," I laughed and could practically hear her rolling her eyes through the phone. The last time we were going to "have fun", I ended up plastered and it basically cost me my relationship.
"Oh, come on. You always do this. Act like you don't know how to have a good time and then you actually do. So do you have time or no?" She asked.
Walking back into my closet to continue hanging up the pile of shirts on the floor, I tucked my phone between my ear and shoulder. "Not today. I have a million things to do before I leave for Bulgaria in a week and.."
"Stop right there. This is exactly what I'm saying. It's always work this and work that. You leave in a week, Joey. You can pack later."
"I'm not a procrastinator like you," I smiled.
"And you're not ninety years old either. Meet me in Malibu at 2 o'clock. I'll text you the address."
"Malibu is an hour away. I'm not.."
"See you then!" She sang into the phone before abruptly hanging up. Instantly a text came through.
