Hero's POV:
I was hoping by reaching out to Kathrine, that Jo would have gotten the message by now. After trying to catch up on some sleep I've so desperately needed, I ended up calling a cab and taking a walk around Central Park most of the afternoon. It was relatively nice out today, but that did almost nothing to lift my spirits.
It's now nearing 9pm and I'm on my way back to my room after running a few miles on the treadmill here at the hotel gym. I'm hot and sweaty and hopefully it's enough to make me fall asleep for more than a couple of hours tonight since I've got work in the morning. Call time: 8am.
Just as I'm about to step off the elevator and head back to my room, the doors open to none other than.. you guessed it.. Vivian. We've already made eye contact. So it's not like I can just act like I haven't seen her. She's dressed to go out it looks like. A skin tight red dress that looks like it's been practically painted on covered by a black leather jacket and heels.
"Well, hello there," she smirks at me as I step out of the lift.
"Vivian," I give her a small nod as I move to get past her.
"A few of us are going to that club down the street for a few drinks? Want to join?"
"I'm good," I brush her off.
"Oh come on, Hero. Live a little. We're only in New York for a few more days," she says as she sticks out her bottom lip slightly. Like that will suddenly change my mind.
"I said I'm good," I tell her, my voice low. The last thing I need is to be photographed at a fucking club with this girl. That'll sure fix things between Jo and I.
"We could always just do something else.. just the two of us.." she purrs as she turns around to face me. The elevator doors have closed at this point. I should have pushed her in while I still had a chance.
Having had my fair share of the back and forth with her, I think it's time I had myself a little fun. As much as it pains me to, I engage her for the time being and take a step back forwards her while dropping my hands to my side.
"Oh yeah?" I say, my voice somewhat hoarse from running earlier. "And what do you propose we do?"
I watch as her eyes flash something nothing short of deviancy. Like a snake before they lunge for the kill.
"I've got a whole list of ideas that I think you'd enjoy," she says in almost a whisper and takes ahold of my sweat soaked t shirt now that I'm merely inches away from her.
"Mmm.." I hum as I play into her little game. "You know what I would enjoy most?" I ask her as she looks up at me through her dark eyelashes. I can feel her stiffen slightly as I lean down next to her ear, the smell of her perfume almost knocking me on my ass from the strength of it. And with my voice in a low harsh whisper, I deliver my next words. "If you'd take a fucking hint and stay the fuck away from me from now on." After that, I press the down button behind her for the elevator and smirk to myself.
The heat radiating from her, either from rage or embarrassment no doubt, has me taking a step back. Her cheeks are flushed and her eyes are nearly slits as she stares back at me.
"You're an asshole," she spits out as she brushes her hair back.
"And you can't take no for an answer," I throw at her in satisfaction. "Have fun though. But remember, call time's 9am," I smirk over my shoulder as I begin to walk away. I can hear her huff in disgust as I make my way down the hall to my room. The look on her face at my no doubt final rejection will be forever engrained in my mind. But as much as I can't help but smile, it does absolutely nothing for the emptiness still in my heart.
When I reach my room, I flick on the lamp next to the bed and sit on the edge. I had left my phone up here while I was running, in the mind set of 'maybe if I don't have it near me, a text or call will magically appear'. But to my disappointment, there's nothing. Sighing heavily, I run my hand through my damp hair and decide to take a shower before crawling into bed. I pull my t shirt over my head and toss it onto the chair a few feet away just as a knock comes at the door.
Instantly, I'm pissed. I'm willing to bet my whole bank account that it's Vivian on the other side. No doubt trying to have the last word. Deciding I'm not in the mood to go another round with the crazy bitch, I keep my spot on the side of the bed and begin scrolling through my phone. Within seconds, another set of knocks come again and I jump off the bed and stride to the door.
'As if I couldn't have made myself clear enough this time.. so help me God' I think to myself as I unlock the door and swing it open with sheer force, only to be met with blonde hair and blue eyes in a look of pure surprise.
