The night was calm and serene nothing amiss everyone seemed snug in their beds preparing for the next day that would follow. A wizard with long dark purple robes walked the road outside of a family most foul most witches and wizards and even muggles would cringe at the plan he had in mind at that moment.
A cat followed him slowly turning into a witch with a stern face, quickly catching up to the elder wizard a look of distain on her face clearly upset with this plan of his as well. "Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. Are the rumours true, Albus?". "I'm afraid so, Professor. The good, and the bad"
"And the boy?"
"Hagrid is bringing him"
"Do you think it wise to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?"
"Ah, Professor, I would trust Hagrid with my life."
Then the sudden sound of a loud motor disturbed the quiet conversation between the two looking up they saw a motorcycle quickly land with a thud before them a rather tall man stepped out from the vehicle removing his driving attire as the elder wizard known as Dumbledore began a conversation with him.
"No problems, I trust, Hagrid?"
"Professor Dumbledore, Sir. Professor McGonagall. No, sir. Little tyke fell asleep just as we were flying over Bristol. Heh. Try not to wake him. There you go."
Hagrid had walked over to the sidecar of his motorcycle during the conversation and carefully bent down and picked up a small child wrapped in a thick white blanket, carefully handing him over to Dumbledore as the elder witch looked over his shoulder at the child.
"Albus, do you really think it's safe, leaving him with these people? I've watched them all day. They're the worst sort of Muggles imaginable. They really are..."
"The only family he has." Dumbledore told her as he approached the house labelled 4 Privet Drive.
"This boy will be famous. There won't be a child in our world who doesn't know his name."
"Exactly. He's better off growing up away from all that. Until he is ready."
Dumbledore slowly placed the baby on the rug that faced the door of 4 Privet Drives porch, the baby not stirring a bit at ease in the warmth of the blankets encasing him. Hagrid took a deep breath holding in unshed tears for his friends and the child they were wishing goodbye.
"There, there, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye, after all."
Hagrid nodded knowing it was for the best as Dumbledore grabbed a letter from within his robes and placed it delicately on the child's body.
"Good luck...Harry Potter." Dumbledore muttered as he apparated away, the giant slowly walking back to his motorcycle eager to leave and let his tears flow.
The elder witch known as Minerva McGonagall disappeared into the shadows a cat soon emerging from those same shadows approaching Harry and the door scratching the door till, they heard footsteps approach them where they scampered away into the night following the men who were once there all hoping partially to never think of the little boy, they left behind for at least eleven years.
փ
Meanwhile over two hours away in a small townhouse not unlike 4 Privat Drive a young woman sat in her rocking chair warmed by the fire she'd lit not five minutes ago flicking through her book, though every time she'd finish a page, she'd lower the book and eagerly look to the telephone sat next to her on the side table waiting for a phone call to come that could change her life.
