Severus watched Genevieve as she picked up Harry balancing him on her hip and carried him to the kitchen soon following them into the space.
"Would you like to sit, I'm just about to make Harry his dinner your welcome to stay we're having cottage pie" She asked as she sat Harry in his highchair, Harry quickly picking up the spoon laying on the table and using it as a drumstick the table the drum playing his own special tune.
"Fine, that would be fine" He replied watching as she walked around the kitchen. She seemed very muggle not once using magic even for tough chores such as grabbing a pot much to high for her, Severus let her struggle watching for any sign of movement towards a wand or the pot moving itself seeing none he stood up behind her and grabbed it giving it to her as she turned to face him.
"I believe this is what you wanted" Feeling his mission was done and he wouldn't gather much else from the young woman he turned to leave.
"Wait didn't you want to stay for dinner?" Severus stopped at the kitchen archway debating just leaving or actually staying and continuing the lie. He wordlessly shook his head and continued to leave Genevieve standing there thinking about the rude man she'd just met.
Shaking her head, she turned to see Harry chewing on the plastic spoon quickly removing it from his mouth and checking the door to make sure it was locked she went back to cooking Harry and her dinners trying not to think about the tall man.
Yet every time he'd finally left her mind, she suddenly drifted back to the place he'd once sat staring her down wondering just how someone could who looked so close in age to her look so broken and unfeeling at the same time.
փ
As Severus prepared himself for bed having finished writing a letter to Dumbledore, he thought over the woman he'd met that day she was nothing like Lily she was too nice almost naively, obsessed with plants and had no magical qualities her hair was long and black with waves nothing like Lily's curly red hair, her eyes were a muddy light brown Lily's were an emerald green they were nothing alike. He wondered how Lily would feel about that woman raising her son. Would she approve? Would she have liked her? No, he shook his head trying to clear it of the thoughts that invaded ever since he laid eyes on the adoptive mother of Harry Potter.
He was startled as the owl he'd just sent off not thirty minutes ago return with a new letter labelled to Severus. He grabbed it out of the owl's beak treating the fowl thing before shooing it away. He stared down at the letter debating opening it at that moment or getting a restful sleep and worrying about its contents all night instead he chose the latter and wrapped himself into the bed having thrown the letter carelessly to the side hoping for sleep to take him swiftly.
Sleep did take him fast that night, yet every second was filled with her. What ifs, could haves, and should'ves, but the one thing that kept ringing through his head, the one thing that never left even when he was awake.
"Why did you do it Severus? You Killed Me"
