Jo,

Beth is slipping away. Even if your peptide proves to be effective, the damage is done. The doctors say she is too far gone for treatment of any kind. Her gamma radiation procedure is scheduled for next week, and that's assuming she makes it until then. If you'd like to say good-bye, it's time to come home.

There's more, I'm sorry. Don't worry. Everyone else is in good health, the baby included. Her serology tests continue to suggest she has full immunity. While I'm helping Marmee, she's been in quarantine with Amy, just to be safe.

Amy returned from space last week. Laurie is with her. They are "together," by the way. We'll all take some time to recover, but by summer's end, we'll be planning a wedding. They wanted to wait until you came home to tell you. You are the last to know, and I know that would bother you, so I decided to give you fair warning. With that out of the way, I hope we can all focus on the funeral with no hard feelings.

With much love,

Meg
