Chapter Seven
"Sky... is everything alright, honey?"
Mommy sat beside me on the couch where I am sitting while staring at the night sky after our dinner.
With the phone on my right hand, I quickly hid it out of her sight and smiled as I looked at her.
She yawned.
"Yes, Mom... just hanging out. Nagpapatunaw ng kinain." I reasoned out.
She squinted at me. "It's okay to break your diet sometimes, anak. Nobody's even obliging you to have that strict diet."
I nodded softly.
"I know, Mom. But it's my own decision. Thanks..."
She just squeezed my left hand na nakapatong sa couch and smiled sweetly at me.
"Just don't forget my bilin ha."
"I won't. I promise."
Nagpaalam na rin siyang papasok na at inaantok na raw siya dahil buong araw siyang nasa isang event sa Alabang.
I was left there alone staring at the night sky.
Naisipan kong lumapit sa pool at ilublob ang mga paa ko sa tubig habang sinusubukan pa ring tawagan si Calvin.
Ano na kayang nangyari sa kanya?
I really hope he's okay.
Past nine na when I decided to get out of the water and go to my room without having the chance to talk to Calvin. I even considered sending a message to his sister, Caliyah, para kamustahin ang kapatid niya. Mabuti nalang na I can't find her account in Facebook somehow.
After taking a hot shower, I sat on the edge of my bed while drying my hair with a towel.
Wala sa sariling napadako ang tingin ko sa cellphone kong nakapatong sa night stand sa tabi ko.
And as if on queue, bigla itong umilaw at tumunog.
I quickly picked it up.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hi... uhm, sorry ngayon ko lang nahawakan cellphone ko." he said with a slightly trembling voice.
"It's fine. Are you okay? Are you badly hurt?"
Hindi ko alam kung anong nasabi ko at narinig ko siyang natawa saglit pero agad din naman siyang sumagot.
"Okay naman ako." then he chuckled again
"Huh?" naguguluhan kong tanong. "Are you sure?"
But instead of answering, I heard him chuckle again.
"I'm asking a serious question here, Calvin Maverick..."
Hindi ko napigilang magtunog galit kaya naman napatigil siya agad sa mahina niyang pagtawa.
"Hey... I'm fine, really... heto nga at kumukuha ako ng gamit ng Mommy at kapatid kong pasaway coz she got herself in an accident kanina sa game..." he said calmly.
Kunot-noo kong inabot iyong iPad ko sa kama at saka nagscroll sa newsfeed ko. Naghahanap ng bagong update sa basketball team page ng school namin.
"Wait, did you think ako iyong na-injured? Nah... I love my body so much to even think of getting an injury." he chuckles again.
I pouted when I saw a post from the school page that wishing Caliyah a speedy recovery.
Bakit hindi ko naisip na tignan ulit iyong page kanina? Ang tagal ko pa namang tumambay sa baba kanina tapos fake news pala ako.
