Chapter Four

The word ‘studying’ was made of two words originally ‘students dying’.
--Good morning!

For the past week, I haven’t missed a day that I didn’t greet him a good morning or a good night. But Calvin doesn’t seem to be the type of a guy who uses his phone like a normal guy should.

Basketball is his life.

Kaya siguro wala din akong nababalitaan sa school na girlfriend niya or what.
Today, sinadya kong sa school na i-send ang message ko so I can see for myself what his reaction would be. If he’s going to read it ba or nabubulok nalang talaga iyong messages ko sa inbox niya.

I went out of the classroom for a while to send my message before our first class and as I walk inside again, I roamed my eyes para tignan kung saang part ng room namin siya naroon na naman. Knowing him, busy na naman siguro iyon while talking to one of our classmates.

I silently sat on my seat while still looking at him.

Grabe iyong bilis ng heartbeat ko!
I feel nauseous already because of nervousness pero unti-unti itong nawala when I saw his reaction.

His creased brows suddenly arched and he slowly smiled at his phone!

I bit my lip as I sighed and slowly smiled too.

Wait, what if hindi naman sa akin iyong message that he’s reading?

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang maramdaman ang pag-vibrate ng cellphone ko from the pocket of my skirt.

Did he reply?!

Buong umaga akong wala sa sarili dahil sa kaka-isip kung nag-reply nga siya or if ano man iyong message kong dumating.

If he replied, what did he say?

Gosh! I hate surprises like this!

I don’t even remember if we will have a quiz or an assignment for tomorrow because my mind is already on my phone.

Nagtatakang tanong ni Kuya Eric when I took out my lunch boxes from my thermo bag.

Saglit ko siyang tinignan at nginitian.

“Yes, Kuya.

I even heard him whispering from the driver’s seat pero hindi ko na siya pinansin.

He can be usisero at times.

Calvin: Seems like your good morning is late today.

I immediately grabbed the throw pillow beside me and hugged it tight para doon ilabas ang nararamdaman ko.

Dahil sa pag-reply niya, I realized a thing or two.
