"Over here, please, she's waiting for you."

Dumbledore stepped into a small rectangle room with light blue peeling walls. Adelaide's so-called "home". In the corner of the room stood a metal twin-sized bed with what looked like a very stiff and hard mattress, a foot away from it to the right stood a small unpolished wooden desk. A girl of about 14 or 15 years old was sitting on the bed, back against the crippling wall. She looked up at the man with her piercing, curious sharp eyes. The man stalled for a few seconds, recognizing something familiar in these eyes. He shook his head- his imagination was playing tricks on him.

"Hello, uhm.. uh.."

"Adelaide. My name is Adelaide," she spoke with her usual calm, cold, clear tone.

He was still looking at her in bewilderment for a couple seconds before she asked: "How can I help you sir?"

"Oh! Right! Sorry about that.. I was just thinking.." Dumbledore seemed lost. "Anyway, Adelaide, do you know who I am?"

"No.."

"My name is Albus Dumbledore and I am the Headmaster of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardr-'' he was cut off by a hearty, bright, deafening laugh which escaped out of the young girl's throat.

"Excuse-" she was still rolling on the bed with laughter "-me.. It's just.. You're.. So..funny.. I can't.." She was still chuckling at a very unamused looking Dumbledore.

"I'm not joking, miss.. Uhm.. What is your last name..?"

"I have no idea," chuckled Adelaide.

"What in Merlin's name do you mean?"

"Who's Merlin..?"

"That's besides the point miss, answer my question."

"I don't know my last name. I don't have a last name, if you will. Both of my parents died, or at least that's what I was told."

"Okay.. we will have to do something about that later. So I trust you don't believe that I'm a wizard. I guess I will have to prove it to you."The strange man sighed, took out a wooden wand out of the pocket of his robes and pointed it at the desk, muttering something unintelligible, he made the desk lift into the air and spin around. After spinning for some time the desk fell back to the ground with a thump, dulled by the carpet.

"So you're here.. Because you think I'm a.. witch..?"

"You're one smart cookie, aren't you?"

She looked at him strangely with those sharp, deep eyes. She was thinking.

ADELAIDE

What does this mean?? Is this for the better or for the worse?? I don't know, being a witch seems kind of interesting. What if this is it.. I can't let this opportunity pass just like that.. I must try to get my life together. I WILL become the best. And, besides, anything would be better than staying here. Maybe there will be something fun, or maybe I will learn how to control things around me... No matter what this "school" is, it can't possibly be worse than this trashy hole.

"Okay. How do I get in?"

Dumbledore was lost in a trail of thought..

"I think that you can grow up to be a very powerful witch, and I can sense that your abilities are some of the most extraordinary I've ever felt.. You're very special, Adel, though I would like to find out more about your background, as I believe so would you.. Something that I also find very interesting, is the fact that I can sense your contradiction.. It's as if there are two opposites inside you and both are constantly fighting.. It makes me wonder a lot.." Dumbledore shook his head, as he realized he talked too much and too honestly. After all, this witch was already 14 years old and she wasn't stupid.

"You will be expected to attend Hogwarts on September 1st, starting this year. You will have to catch up a lot, since your peers are already going into Year 4, though I trust with your amazing abilities it won't be too big of a problem for you. We can talk about getting your books and supplies later, I will now be leaving you with only your thoughts to keep company. It was a pleasure meeting you." Dumbledore stumbled quickly out the doors, knowing that it was him who needed the alone time with his thoughts, not Adel. He knew all about Adelaide's powers, keeping watch on her and having a trusted witch spy on her from the orphanage. He thought it was finally time for her to go to Hogwarts, as it seemed that her abilities would soon get to such an extreme level, she wouldn't have any control over her actions and events around her, making her life a huge problem.

ADELAIDE

Oh I do wonder how he knows about my abilities... But most importantly how does he know about the war inside me.. I wonder if I will learn to block my thoughts and inner feelings from other people.. If it's even possible... I really hope it is. I can't afford to let other people into my mind, it wouldn't work. My mind is too private of a place.. I'm so freaked out omg.. What if he will still be able to go into my mind.. At least I'm leaving this shithole forever.. Dumbdoor or whatever his name was said something about another orphan becoming a powerful wizard.. Tom his name was..
