Nightmares

"Y/N! The Taxi's here!", shouts Nora. "Yes, I'll be there in a minute!", you answer and hectically put on your shoes and jacket. "Come on Loki, I have to put on your collar.", you put on his collar and the leash.

Nora is already waiting at the door with your suitcase and your bag, which you've packed the day before. 

When you were back in Germany five days ago, you realized that you don't even have that much clothes or shoes. I really need to go shopping. I mean, I'm in New York, when would be a better time to go shopping than now?

Nora helps you carrying your suitcase downstairs, and you carry Loki because he is still a bit afraid of stairs.

When you step outside you can already see the Taxi waiting. Nora puts your suitcase and your bag into the car and turns around to hug you. "Oh I'm going to miss you Y/N.", she mumbles into your hair. "Oh yes, me too!", you respond and breath in her scent, smelling like her 'green apple-shampoo'. 

While she pets Loki and gives him a little kiss on his fluffy head, she says: "And we have to talk on the phone a lot, okay?", she looks up to you. You laugh softly and say: "Of course. I want to hear everything about You, Mel and the wedding, ok?". She giggles, "Yes, I wont leave out a single detail, from the colour of the flowers, to the music. But only if you tell me everything that happens between you an Tom.", she raises an eyebrow and grins at you.

"Would you ever think I wouldn't talk to you about everything that happenes?", you ask and chuckle. "No. Ofc not. But you have to go now Y/N or that Taxi will drive without you.", she laughs. "You're right. Bye.", you hug her one last time and get in the car, Loki sitting on your lap.

The drive takes almost an hour until you arrive at the hotel. It's already getting dark outside. You and Tom agreed that you would come to the hotel in the evening so that he would be there when you arrive.

When you get out of the taxi you text him quickly. You pay the driver and grab your suitcase in one hand and you bag and Lokis leash in the other one.

Trying not to fall and get burried under your stuff, you walk through the entrance of the hotel. It's very bright inside and the entrance hall is huge. You look around and try to orient yourself.

Then you spot a familiar tall man heading towards you. You go to him; "Hey Tom.". "Hey Y/N, how are you? Let me help you with your bags.", he takes your suitcase as a matter of course and smiles at you. "I'm great, just a little tired. Thank you.", you smile back. "How are you?", you ask him while you try to keep loki still, who has tangled himself in his leash.

Tom chuckles and says: "I'm good, thank you for asking." You 'freed' Loki and stand up again. "Let's check you in and get you a key for the room.", he says and you two walk towards the reception.

After you checked in and got a second key, you take the elevator to the fourth floor. While standing in the elevator you remember something; "Oh by the way, I'm working as a waitress in a restaurant for a while now." He looks at you; "Hey that's good, it's propably a good chance to earn some money while you're still thinking about what you want to do in the future.", he smiles softly and is still looking at you. You answer: "Yes I think so too and the restaurant is just across the street."

You get out of the elevator and walk to the door with the number 4003. He openes it and says: "Ladys first". You chuckle and go through the door together with Loki. You immediately hear some paws scratching on the floor and see Bobby running around the corner. Loki gets excited and you take of his leash, watching the two of them for a moment.

Tom closes the door and shows you your bedroom. "Make yourself comfortable.", he says and puts dow your suitcase next to your bed. "Thanks, the room looks great.", you smile but also have to yawn. "I'm just going to unpack Lokis bed and foodbowls, and then I'm going straight to bed."

"Alright, we can talk tomorrow. Sleep tight Y/N.", he looks at you one last time, before he leaves the room. "Good night", you answer and can see Loki slipping through the door before tom closes it behind him. You put up his bed and he immediately lays down in it.

You change, brush your teeth and go to bed aswell.

At night you sleep very restlessly and move around a lot. You have nightmares and start to scream in your sleep. Tears roll down your cheeks and Tom comes into your room. "Y/N? Y/N. Hey wake up. It's just a dream.", he sits dow next to you and shakes you softly to wake you up. 

You slowly open your eyes, still crying. "Tom?", your voice is shaky and you look up to him. You have been sweating heavily and your pillow is wet from your tears.

He moves closer to you and takes you in his arms. "Shhh, it's okay. I'm here for you.". You thankfully rest your head on his chest and cry silently. "Thank you Tom.", you almost whisper. Your heart is still beating very fast.

He strokes your hair; "It's okay Y/N. I'm here with you.", you start to calm dow a little and he asks gently: "Do you wanna tell me about your dream?". You sniffle and say: "Uhm, o-okay. I can try"

"I don't remember everything, " you start slowly "but it... It felt like i was a kid again, with my family at home, and- I... I remember my parents fighting over something. They were shouting at eachother", another tear rolls down your cheek "a- and I... I was hiding under my blanket, covering my ears. I told myself it would help if I wouldn't hear them, but I heard them. And it didn't help." you sob and more tears roll down your cheeks. Tom still strokes your hair and you continue: "Then suddenly we were sitting in the car, driving to france for the holidays. It...it was a 12h car ride and they where arguing again, for hours. I turned my music up, so loud it hurt in my ears, but again it didn't help. I was stuck with them and I couldn't run away.", another sob escapes your lips. "I, I know that these were just a few peaces of memories combined, bu- but it felt so real..."

"I'm so sorry that you had to through this Y/N. I didn't know." he says softly. For a few moments you two just lay there together but then you ask quietly: "uhm, Tom?".

"Yes darling?", he answers gently and looks at you. "Could you maybe stay a little longer with me? Maybe until I fall asleep again?", you can see his sweet blue eyes, even in the dark. "Of course. I'll stay with you."

You cuddle up to him a little more. Breathing in his scent and hearing him breathe calms you down and you fall asleep again after a few minutes.
