Chapter 23

"Is that really you?" I found myself asking, still not believing my father stood in front of me.

The corners of his lips raised slightly, his grey orbs pierced through mine. "It is me"

He began to walk towards me and I found myself doing the same thing. He opened his arms and I ended in his warm embrace. His scent of pine trees and cinnamon filled my nose. Exactly as I remembered it. I closed my eyes as I felt the familiarity around me. I felt home in his arms. I pulled away and looked into his still handsome face. He gazed into mine, his eyes taking in every inch of my face.

"I finally found you" he breathed out "I've been looking for you for so long" relief and hope flashed in his grey orbs.

A smile found its way to my lips. As I led him towards the bed. I had my arm around his waist, his arm was draped around my shoulders. When he sat down I noticed him wincing from the pain.

My eyebrows creased as my eyes looked him over "are you in pain?"

"It's an old injury...nothing to worry about," he rubbed his injured leg.

"How are you alive, I saw you dead," I couldn't help but ask. My voice was cautious and curious at the same time.

He chuckled "I was nearly dead. Henry injected me with so much wolfsbane it induced a coma. Then he stabbed me with a silver knife. Honestly, I am still surprised I survived it. I lost so much blood and the injury to my head caused me to be in a coma for a year and then I had amnesia for months after it"

My eyes widened in horror at what happened to him. "Oh my God...dad I'm sorry I should have been there"

"No, he would kill you" he muttered "I am sorry you had to see everything" his eyes moved to the wooden floor in front of him.

My heart sank at seeing my father's guilt. I placed my hand on his forearm "dad...stop it" my voice was gentle.

His eyes moved to mine and I saw the tears lining his eyes. He tore away his gaze "I'm sorry you had to go through everything alone" he wiped the tear that escaped his eye.

I pulled him into an embrace. He didn't need to apologise, none of it was his fault. After we pulled away from each other I smiled "all that matters is that we are together again".

He smiled and nodded his head "you're right"

I placed my head on his shoulder and sighed in contentment "Is this your house?"

"This is my packhouse" I heard him say.

"Hmmm" was all I said as my eyes roamed all over the place.

After a few seconds of comfortable silence, his familiar deep voice rang through the room "I am an Alpha and your mother was hig-" he tried to explain but I interrupted by lifting my head "I know, I found out everything" my eyes found his.

He sighed "We wanted to tell you, we waited for the right time," his voice was soft. I felt the guilt rolling off of him.

"Dad it's fine, past is past" I reassured him.

He smiled at me "I'm sure you must be hungry, get changed and I'll meet you downstairs in few minutes" he stood up and then walked towards the door. After opening the door, he gave me reassuring smile and then left.

I sat on the bed, my mind swirled with thoughts. Father was alive, I was happy beyond words and I had a home but the thought of Alex made me nervous. I somehow need to find out if he left with Liam or if he stayed behind. I loved him and I needed to make sure he was ok. I needed to talk to my father about him. Maybe I could bring him here and we could live here. I was sure my dad would like him. Alex was a lot like my father. I let out a sigh, I needed to talk to my father about him today. The sooner the better.
