As another gig ends on a successful note a CiRCLE staff encounters a hard-working girl.

I look up at the clock. 

6:00... That means that...

I hear footsteps emerge from the stairs below. 

Oh, Hazawa-san.

Tsugumi jumps a little. "Oh, h-hello!"

Good work today. I could hear the show from here. Sounded pretty exciting.

"...Huh?"

I couldn't watch the entire thing but I sneaked in to watch a bit. Afterglow seems to be performing really well!

Her eyes widen a bit. "Y-you thought our gig was really good?"

I smile at her. Of course.

"Th-thank you...!", she nervously thanks me.

"Um..."

Hm?

"To tell the truth, the part I was stressing about the other day in the corridor..."

The one she talked to me about...

"...I played it fairly well today. Everyone was happy for me..."

She smile forms on her nervous face. 

"Fufu, I was so glad."

Glad to hear it.

"I practiced so much that my fingers started to hurt...", she looks to the side.

Ouch, that sounds painful.

"It was worth it though."

Well, I'm happy for you!

"But!", she looks at me, "this doesn't mean I can let my guard down!"

She pumps herself up with her hands.

"I still need to put in a lot more effort!"

Wow... I'm feeling motivated just from talking with her...!

I'm glad to see that you're still striving for more.

Tsugumi sighs, satisfied. "I still feel happy just thinking about it..! Ran-chan even said that I did a good job."

"...You might've heard this from one of the other girls, but we've all been friends since we were little."

Yeah, don't they go to the same school together?

"Since being together was just such a normal thing for us, I always thought it was going to be that way...", her face becomes somber, "But sometimes things don't always work out how you think they will, right?"

Sometimes.

"For us, things like being put in different classes, or our club activities."

Oh, I get what you mean.

They're so close, they were childhood friends after all.

"So that's why we started the band."

"So that we would have a place to come back to even if we got slip up."

A reminiscent smile forms on her face. "That was really the only reason in the beginning, but before we knew it the band became something bigger...and now everyone is taking it really seriously..."

Taking it seriously? So that's why you guys have those outfits on.

"...Oh!" She starts fidgeting with her hands. "This outfit, um...! Tomoe insisted that I wear it..! It wasn't my first choice..." She looks down.

Haha, it's alright. Besides, I think it suits you.

Her eyes widen as her cheeks turn red.

"A-anyway," she raises her voice a bit, "I'm the one who suggest we start the band, so I can't afford to be the one that holds everyone back!"

I stay silent, stunned what she said.

She started the band? So that's why she...

"That's why I need to work on my keyboard skills..!"

You seem to have a lot on your plate.

"It's always been like this with lots of things, but I have my hands full just keeping up with the others." She pumps herself up again with her hands. "That's why I have to practice extra hard..."

"So that I can have days like this where I'm glad that we have the band..."

"And so that I can tell myself that starting a band just so that we can stay together wasn't a mistake...!"

I smile a little to myself.

"...Oh, I'm sorry! You must be sick of hearing about me..."

Ah no, it's fine. I wasn't really doing anything.

"I-I think I'll head back to the others now."

I stop myself.

"Thank you! I'll keep doing my best!" We smile at each other. "Okay, see you around!"

She runs through the doors.
