Mr. Daemon And Me

Proposal

Avelyn's Pov:

I made my way inside the park and sat on the bench my hands clenching the ring tightly in my lap. As I waited, my brain exploded with many thoughts on how Jacob would react upon hearing my proposal. I have never experienced the feeling of being loved before Jacob. He made me feel safe in his arms where I can hide from the daemons in the world. 

A car horn broke my chain of thoughts and I glanced at the direction and saw Jacob coming out of his Audi in his cop uniform.  He looks dashing in his uniform with his hair falling over his eyes. He looked at me and gave his most charming smile which I think is reserved only for me. I quickly hid the ring in my purse and stood up while smiling at him. He engulfed me as soon as he is near me in his warm hug and gave a peck on my lips. I smiled feeling  a little shy and hid my face in his neck. 

He chuckled at this and broke the hug and grabbed me to sit on his lap as he sat on the bench. I sat sideways and held onto his neck for support. "I missed you. How was your day baby?" he asked me in his deep voice. His voice suddenly reminded me of certain one from the event, whom I shouldn't remember at all considering his behavior towards me. I couldn't help but think of his voice. Oh god! What the hell is wrong with me? Here I am sitting in my soon to be fiancé's lap and thinking of that arrogant bastard. I quickly pushed his thoughts away and smiled at Jacob while replying with an okay and  my todays events.

We sat there and talked for a while and I decided to tell him what I have been waiting for so long. I took a deep breath and started while looking into his eyes, "Jacob, I have never had anyone who took care of me from my childhood. I have been all myself without knowing what care and love means. Then you came along and my life has changed for better. I learned how to love and care and you make me feel loved and safe when I am with you. I would like to spend my life, loving you and being loved by you. Jacob, will you marry me?" I finished and closed my eyes waiting for his reply.

After what felt like a minute or so has been passed and the rejection I had feared hit me like a truck. Slowly I opened my eyes with tears streaming down my cheeks and stood up to leave as I do not want to hear the words of rejection from him.  As I took a step away from him, a large hand caught my wrist and tugged me back abruptly. Since I was not anticipating that I couldn't balance myself from standing and fell onto his lap for the second time tonight. 

"I believe I didn't give my reply yet. Do you not want to hear my reply baby?" he asked me while holding my face in his hands. When I didn't reply, he held my chin and made me look into his eyes and I saw the love, adoration sparkling in them. This gave me a hope that I may be a part of his life. "I loved you from the second I saw you Avelyn. I was waiting for the right time to propose but you beat me to it huh!" he joked trying to ease the tension between us.

"You are the most humble and naïve girl I have ever seen. I find you adorable when you are angry. I feel loved when you look at me with those eyes of yours. You are the only person I want to spend my life with. So, yes Avelyn I will marry you." he said and kissed me fully on my lips. Upon hearing his words, happy tears started to flow from my eyes. I closed my eyes and gave into the kiss. He angled my head to the side and deepened the kiss. We kissed for some minutes and broke it for the much needed oxygen. 

He engulfed me in his warmth once again and I wounded my arms around his waist while still panting. We stayed in the hug for a while and I broke the hug remembering the ring I brought for him. He looked at me questioningly while raising his eyebrow. I rummaged through my purse and took the ring out. I opened the box and took the ring in between my fingers. I grabbed his left hand and looked at him asking for his permission to put it on. He smiled and I took it as an okay and put on his ring finger. 

He took my hand in his and said " I am sorry baby. I didn't get you the ring. But, I promise, we will buy it tomorrow first thing in the morning." I shook my head and said " As long as I get to be with you, I don't care about the materialistic things". He smiled at this and hugged me again.

"As much as I want to marry you right away, I can't. We can't get married Avelyn" he said and this broke the hug causing me to look at him. "I have a goal to achieve in my career and I want to complete it without any problems. I don't want you to get dragged into this mess. Day by day it's getting more dangerous  and I need you in my life to keep me sane. But I can't be selfish when it concerns your safety. You need to stay away from me baby" he completed and my eyes started to water again even from the thought of staying away from him.

"Nothing will happen to me, as long as I am with you Jacob. Please, don't push me away from you." I tried to assure him. But he shook his head and said "you don't know anything Avelyn. The person I have been trying to catch is a dangerous person. Adrain James Knight, is the definition of a devil. He will kill anybody without any mercy. Just a doubt on the person and he becomes their shadow without them even knowing it. He killed my friend earlier whom I sent as a spy to his house. He is very dangerous Avelyn. I don't want you to get meddled in this dirt." A shiver ran down my body on hearing the name of the person. He is the one with whom I managed to stir up the trouble. But, because of this I don't want to lose the only person who loves and care for me. I will do anything to be with him.

"NO, NO, NO, please, I will do anything for you Jacob. I will not be in danger. You will be by my side, protecting me right? So, nothing will be a problem. I don't want to lose the only person who loves me Jacob. Please" I pleaded him while crying. 

He sighed and hugged me while I kept crying. "Then sacrifice our love for us, Avelyn. Become the person, whom he trusts and loves the most. Turn his attention to you and make him fall in love with you" Jacob said and I felt like my heart has stopped beating on hearing those words from him.
