Tyler's POV

Whenever my mother tells me she wants to have a talk with me I was always nervous. I never like our serious talks because it always leads to me feeling pressured over something she wants or said.

"Tyler I know you hate these kind of conversations but I feel its necessary. You are old enough now to have a wife and take over the business. I am tired of working so I want to ensure that you are in a stable relationship so that you can focus on your family and your business" She said.

This was more like a demand to me. I was not ready for what she suggested and going against her will make things harder for me.

"Mom I am in no rush to get married right now. I can still run the business successfully like I have been doing without having a wife" I replied.

"Tyler I won't have you out here sleeping with different girls just like your father was doing and almost ruined our business. I won't have that for you"

My father was a selfish man who only thoughts were about living for one day. I am nothing like my father but she always seems to remind me of who he was.

"You don't need to bring him up every time we have a disagreement. I will run the business just as I am doing and when I am ready I will find a wife" I said.

"Amanda is such a sweet girl. She would make a perfect wife for you" She said.

Here she goes. Trying to pick my wife for me. Always think she got my life all figured out.

"Yes she is a sweet girl but the people she calls family I don't think I want to have to deal with them for the rest of my life" I said.

"Tyler she is not her family. You of all people should know that. Don't you love her?" She asked.

"Love alone don't make a relationship. I don't trust those people. They could turn on her any minute and she finds it hard to shake them. I don't see what they are doing for her that I can't" I said.

"That's where you come in my son. Marry the girl and take her away from them. She will be your wife and will have to respect your wishes" She said.

I did not see Amanda as my wife right now. Maybe overtime but she has alot of growing up to do.

"She is young, she is not ready for marriage and all the responsibilities that come with it right now. Plus her people going to just confuse her"

"You don't know the powers you hold my love. Marry her, make her a part of the business. Give her something to do that will make her feel like an asset to you. She just just a simple girl, she is not major threat to our empire. You marry her and start a family and keep her quiet"

My mother had worked hard her entire life. No one would understand what she went through to build herself from the ground up time and time again. She met my father when her business was taking off, he almost destroyed it with his ways. I admired her being so strong but she was overbearing at times.

"Mom I will handle my personal life thank you. I am just not ready for marriage, allow me some time please" I said.

"I will not be around forever so the time that I am here I want you to do things the way it should be done" She said.

"You meant your way?" I asked.

"However you want to put it my love. I will see you at Dinner on Sunday. Have that girl fix the place up and add some colour to it. I love you my love"

She kissed me on the cheek and made her way out mumbling about decor still.
