He slowly lurked behind a tree, and peeked ever so slowly, to see what looked like a tribe. These creatures didn't look like Gwaxys or Guens, they were short, no taller than one meter, they were a beautiful stunning shade of purple that situated itself in their core, and got darker as it spread until it reached black, they had two horns each, lightly curved and very pointy, they had two eyes and a small mouth, no nose, just two dots on their faces in its place. They also had dots of white all over their skin, adding to the beauty of it.
They were dancing around... a puddle of water? Weird, in the movies they usually danced around fire, the water glowed for a few seconds then it stopped, the tribe looked disappointed
"We've been doing this for a month, DAMN IT!" one of them said kicking the ground
"What do you recommend?" Another one said as it turned around to what looked like their elder.
The elder just pointed at Alan and said "we have a new thing to worry about, don't we?" Alan tried to hide but they were all approaching him fast, so he ran, as fast as he could, just to learn the hard way, the Tribakwiyan tribe is not one you could outrun.
When they tackled him down, a mixture of rage and fear made him let out a scream, a genuine one. Suddenly the Guenara rock glowed and made its way out of his hand, repelling everyone away from him, and creating a semitransparent shield around him.
The creatures didn't try to attack him again, they were surprisingly calm, as they circled and stared at the now shivering human down, they then parted leaving room for their elder who slowly made his, or her, way to the shield.
She touched it with her pointer finger, that's when Alan noticed she had four fingers, then she closed her eyes and spoke
"we've always meant peace
Never for the creature to shiver
the trust bond will increase
And the Guenara shield will now wither"
Her eyes glowed in a beautiful emerald green that if Alan stared at a bit longer, it would've totally hypnotized him, the shield started gathering around in a spherical shape around her finger, then she moved the boulder of energy around a bit and redirected it at the Guenara rock, returning it to where it came from.
Before anyone could get a word in, several high pitched growls disturbed the whole forest, the whole tribe sprinted away dragging Alan with them, they went to a cave that was at the bottom of a hill next to the forest. After securing everyone inside the elder spoke again
"No time for hide and seek
Close the cave, blend it in
don't let one small hole open for them not to peek
Keep us safe while we're within"
A beam of light came out of her finger and circled the entry of the cave, then it started shrinking, and every time it shrunk rocks replaced it, until it closed on itself and the place became fully shut, the beam of light returned to the elder
"follow us" Alan heard one of them say, out of fear, and confusion, he submitted and followed them, there was a tunnel connecting to the cave, after a while of walking in the dark, tripping on rocks, and profusely sweating, he got out.
"You have a lot of explanation to do" Alan said angrily
...
He entered the house with the elder and they were now alone.
"I need to know, what's the Guenara rock and what does it do, how can you perform all of this wizardry, what was the growl, who are Gwaxy and Guen, where am I, and who are YOU?" he said, once again furious and confused
-Every two years, creatures, the ones we heard growl, named "the praying Terraformers" come out, and try to kidnap us and take over our village, I and other elders from the village always manage to weaken, trap and destroy them to the point they take 2 years to rebirth and regrow what we destroyed, but I have to admit, I'm not immortal, each year I become older and weaker but they don't.
-they don't die?
-not naturally, no. They need to be taken out by someone or something, or else they will outlive us, and even the islands. In an effort to force us to get out of our relatively secure village to the wilderness, they do everything, from chucking giant boulder at our farms, to plating traps all around us. This year they did something I never thought they even had the ability of doing, they clogged up our water supply, we went to the forest to perform rituals in hopes of rain saving us, but I believe fixing the clog would be a more efficient and permanent fix. Look out the window, see that grey and white mountain that's top is a perfect circle? That's the hallow mountain of Tribakwi. On top of that mountain, if you peek from the circle, you'll see what looks like a gigantic never ending hole, no one who ever got in that hole ever came out, ever, and the scary thing is, we don't know why, the other scary thing, is that we also know that's where our water comes from, how the Terraformers got there is beyond my knowledge, I trust you can help us.
-WHAT? NO! I'm not getting into this. Why would I go through risking everything to help you guys? What will I be getting out of this?
-knowledge, you'll be getting knowledge.
-that's all you can offer? Really?
-oh but what about knowledge? You did not even allow me to finish, I will train you to use the Guenara rock. Guenara rocks are very rare rocks and you're extremely fortunate to find one, each Guenara rock, if you're trained right, allows you to cast two spells daily in this island. How do you think I did all of that back at the forest?" She asked, then she opened a brown sack that was tied around her waist and dumped it on a table in front of him, there were about thirty Guenara rocks.
If you help us, I'll teach you magic"
Alan took time to think, learning magic isn't an offer he could just deny, he had to think it through.
-but.....why are you insisting on me, can't you do it alone with your magic?
-because your Guenara rock is the purest emerald green I've ever seen
-what does that have to do with anything? Rocks come in all shapes and sizes.
-there's no coincidence or unreasoned variety in magic, your rock is vibrant with energy. The Guenara rock reaches the beaches of the Gwaxyguen islands two days every year, when Gwaxy and Guen come out to recharge at night, one rock comes out the next day. Our job as elders is to find the rocks and keep them, for the damage they may cause if they land in the wrong hands, but Guenara rocks follow the rule "finders keepers" in the tribakwiyan island, so whoever lays hands on it first, keeps it, and we can't take it away from them, I knew I could trust you because the rock slightly changes color according to its owner. If you were a source of evil, the rock would have been dark purple, but it was emerald green, not only emerald green, pure shiny emerald green, maybe you didn't notice it, but I could feel what's beyond your range of emotion, the purer the rock, the purer the person, the purer the power.
