-Y/B/N stands for your birth name
-The character identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns

"Hey, Y/B/N," they heard the voice and flinched at the name but, sadly, looked up anyway, finding the face of a fourth-year Gryffindor student, "can I borrow your text book for potions?"
"Ummm-" they went to say yes but Fred jumped in, a sour look on his voice and a tone to match.
"Their name is Y/N." He bluntly stated.
"No, it's not. (His/Her) name's Y/B/N." The girl retaliated, emphasising their old pronouns on purpose. Fred almost snarled.
"They," he emphasised loudly, "use they/them pronouns and their," again, he emphasised, "name is Y/N." The fourth year looked towards Y/N and then back to their boyfriend. She then rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, I'm not arguing. You and your (girl/boy)friend do whatever you want."
"They are my partner." Fred caught the girl's attention, as well as the attention of most of the dining table, as she tried to walk away. "I really don't know why that's so hard to understand," he stood up now, the dining room going quiet, "for any of you to understand. It's not hard. Y/N is Y/N and use they/them- not (she/he), not (her/him) but they!" He took a breath, aware everyone's eyes were now on him. "You all know they are non-binary, they have told you so many times and asked you to just be decently human beings, for Merlin's sake. It's not hard to call them Y/N and to say they! It's really not!" He looked straight at his partner. "I did. George did. Harry, my brother, my sister, Hermione, Neville, Luna, hell, even Malfoy can manage it so why can't the rest of you?"
"Freddy-" Y/N softly said, making the tall boy look at them. "Don't bother, it's fine." They shrugged.
"But it's not, Baby. It's not okay. It's just respect, that's all it is." He sighed, pulling them into a hug.
