Chapter 7
"God, why are we always stuck together?!" Draco complained. Harry shrugged and started walking. "Where are you going now- honestly Potter."
"I want to go to Zonko's."
"Oh mature as always. What is there in a stupid joke shop like that anyway?" Harry stopped in his tracks and looked back at the slytherin.
"You've never been to Zonko's?! You've lived in the Wizarding World your whole life and you've never been to Zonko's?!"
"There was never any need." Draco huffed, annoyed at the tone Potter was taking with him. He surely deserves more respect than that.
"Annoying prat." Harry mumbled, turned back around and walking faster than before. Draco followed closely behind until they got to the small joke shop. "Go anywhere I guess, I don't know." He said, walking off.
Draco didn't know where to roam. He'd never been in such a childish store before, and he would never admit it to anyone, but he actually liked the store. Everything around him was some stupid irrisponsible thing that he'd probably seen the Weasel twins use at one time or another. All of it was so... interesting. What kind of person would think of frog spawn soap?
Draco walked around, staying mostly next to the walls, occasionally picking up an object, then scrunching his nose at it and placing it back in 'disgust'. He walked over to the shelf of nose-biting tea cups, when he heard a familiar voice. Hiding behind the short wall, he saw Blaise and Ron sitting with bags in their hands talking.
"I don't think I should tell him. What if I scare him off or something?"
"Aren't you the confidant, chill one? If he gets scared, that's his loss! C'mon he's probably in the herbology shop. Plants are-"
"Kinda his thing." Blaise said with Ron, laughing a little. "All right, but you need to be my wingman right now. I'm great with girls, but guys are a bit harder."
"...No pun intended?"
"Oh- pun definitely intended." Blaise cracked a smile and Ron just shook his head in amusement. Draco turned and sighed, feeling ostracized from his friends. Pansy had a secret girlfriend, and now Blaise was going to get a new boyfriend- and the worst part is he was confiding in THE WEASEL to help him! Out of all people!
The blonde looked up from the floor to see Potter standing in front of him, a look of concern on his face.
"Malfoy, are you alright?" He whispered.
"I'm fine Scarface. Are you done in this lame shop, I'd like to be elsewhere." Harry nodded and they walked out and Harry asked him where he wanted to go next. How very Gryffondor. "I suppose the quill shop would be nice." Draco sighed. He didn't really need to go to the quill shop, but it was right across the street from Dogweed and Deathcap, which had to be the shop Blaise and Ron were going to. This was not spying, simply checking in on a best friend from a distance and without his knowledge. Not spying.
"The quill shop? Really?" Draco nodded and walked inside. He looked around a little, not really paying attention to anything. How could Blaise not tell him that he was crushing on Longbottom? They'd been friends for years but he never once decided to say 'hey I'm infatuated with the fruity guy who likes plants just thought you should know'. That's not that hard right?
"Malfoy? Are you alright? You've been staring at those rainbow ink quills for three minutes now. Do you need to go to the infirmary?" Harry asked, sounding almost concerned. Draco dropped out of his daze and nodded.
"Yeah, brilliant." He said, lips pressing together in a tight line. "I just- ehm, really want one of these quills." He picked one up, rolled his eyes, and then walked up to the counter to pay.
