Chapter 8

When all the kids got back to the castle, they headed straight for their dorms, too tired from their fun to do much else before the fleeting minutes before curfew. Draco and Harry walked down the hallway that separated them from the rest of their friends, and all of a sudden the bubbly and happy atmosphere had been suffocated, becoming very awkward and uncomfortable.

"Hey, do you know what happened with Blaise today? He kind of just disappeared." Harry asked Draco, and he rolled his eyes.

"I don't know. It's not like I know everything about him." Draco stated. Harry settled with that being a good enough answer for him, and walked towards the portrait.

"Gary." They said in unison.

"Hm?" The man asked. "Oh, it's you two. Go on in if you'd like." Gary told them. Draco strolled into the room and jumped onto his bed and got comfortable, taking off his belt, shirt, and shoes, and putting in a fuzzy green jumper. Harry, on the other hand, just watched.

"Excuse me-" Draco started, knocking Harry out of his daze. "Have somewhere to be?"

"I'm gonna brush my teeth." Harry stated, not sure what to do, yet stayed standing instead of making his way towards the bathroom the two boys share.

"Okay then..." Draco rolled his eyes and took out a book. He wasn't sure what it was though, too lost in thought to actually read a word of it.

Harry stood in front of the mirror in his bathroom staring at his own reflection. His mind drew completely blank as he tried to figure out how to survive his new sleeping arrangements. How was he going to not share a dorm with his best friend? How was he going to get away from Malfoy? Sure, they had been friendly-enough in Hogsmeade, but that's just because they had to be. There was no way they could keep that up for the whole year! He really needed to talk to Hermione.

Harry walked out of the bathroom and rummaged through his trunk and grabbed his invisibility cloak. He looked up and saw Malfoy looking at him, eyebrows furrowed and tongue poking his cheek from the inside- and shit, Harry thought, that was attractive.

"What the fuck?" Harry muttered to himself, trying to forget his last thought. He looked back up at Malfoy who was still giving a puzzled expression. "Uhm.. chilly." He coughed, scurrying back to the bathroom.

Harry waited for 10 minutes before putting the cloak over his thin figure and slowly opening the bathroom door. He walked out of the room and watched Malfoy roll his eyes. Distracted by watching the blonde boy, Harry tripped over his trunk, falling face first onto the floor in front of him and wincing in pain. Draco groaned, jumping off his bed and grabbing Harry's cloak off of the ground. He used his other hand to grab Harry's, helping him off the ground, then shifted the cloak over his other arm and pulled his wand from his pocket.

"Episkey." Harry winced again, clutching his now-fixed nose and lightly smiled at Draco. "Next time you try to sneak out, watch where you're going." He stared, rolling his eyes and throwing the cloak on Harry's head, jumping back onto his bed and watched the other boy quietly leave.

When he got to the Gryffindor common room, after the Fat Lady in the portrait went on and on about how lovely it was to see him again, he was instantly hugged by Seamus and Dean.

"Are you finally coming back?" Seamus asked.

"It's been one day-"

"That's one day too long!" He laughed. Dean nodded to Seamus, agreeing.

"Well, sadly I'm not back yet. I just, erm, left something in the dorm. Filch forgot my sweatshirt and it's a bit cold in the new dorm." Dean nodded again and smiled, pulling Seamus' hand from Harry's arm.

"Come back and hang out back here any time you want though, really. It'll be nice to have you sit back here. It's been one night but everything's a little off already." Dean told him, still holding Seamus' hand. Harry noticed this, but didn't think much of it, or of Seamus' light blush.

"Thanks." He told them, heading upstairs to the dorms, and covering his eyes before walking into the girl's dorm. There were no screams of changing girls so he uncovered his eyes for a moment before slapping a hand over his face again. Turns out he was the only one to scream. "Ginny! Oh my god what are you doing?!" He slowly peeled his fingers away from his eyes, only to see Ginny and Luna on her bed, blushing with swollen lips.

"What do you think we were doing? Are you really that oblivious?!" Harry turned a deep shade of red. "Are you two-"

"We've been dating for a couple years now, Harry. Thank you for asking." Luna said. Ginna gave her a small peck on the lips giggling, making Luna smile and blush a bit more.

"How have I not known?!"

"Well the only people who knew before were Hermione, Seamus, Dean, and Neville." Ginny told him. "We didn't really need everyone to know. Why are you in here, anyway?"

"I'm actually here to see Hermione." He told her.

"Do you think he finally caught on to the Draco thing?" She asked Luna.

"What Draco thing?"

"It seems he hasn't, darling." She replied.

"Hermione's in the bathroom right now." Ginny smirked. "'Mione! Harry wants to see you!" It took about 5 seconds before a reply finally came.

"One- oh my- One moment please!" She called back. "Pansy! Oh shit-" Was all they heard before the bathroom went completely silent behind the door. Harry avoided eye contact with Ginny and told the two that he'd be waiting in the common room for Hermione. When he left, he could hear Ginny laughing behind the door, and Luna telling her it's not polite to laugh at a friend, especially if they can hear you.

Harry put the cloak on and went back down the spiral stairs only to see Seamus and Dean kissing on the couch as well. Merlin, why is everyone so horny?! Harry questioned in his head, and decided sitting on the stairs would be the best option.

Hermione came down the stairs finally, and Harry stopped her before they reached the common room.

"How am I going to live in a dorm with Malfoy for probably the rest of the year?!" He frantically asked her.

"Well didn't you guys get along today?"

"Yeah."

"So just do that."

"Well that's different." Harry told her. She shook her head.

"Why would that be any different from getting along otherwise?"

"Because! We're not in Hogsmeade. Field trips are different from actual school." She rolled her eyes at him and sat down on the closest step.

"Has he given you any reason to not like him recently?"

"Well no, he actually fixed my nose and helped me up when I tripped before-"

"Exactly! Look, he's apologized to me and Ron for being such a git. He was getting along with you pretty well yesterday. What's so bad with not hating him this year? Hm? It's our last year at Hogwarts, just enjoy it."

"Alright I guess. But he still hasn't apologized to me yet!"

"He'll get there. I think I know why."

"Why?"

"You'll find out Harry. Don't worry." She smiled, standing up and going back to the dorm without a goodnight.
