Since that night with the boggart, my relationship with Draco has changed. We're definitely not friends but we don't despise each other anymore. Of course, the main difference now is that when we're alone we address each other using first names. We also meet in the library to study in secret. Admittedly we have very different strengths when it comes to schoolwork so logically it makes sense. In a way it's better than studying with Hermione because at times she unintentionally makes me feel stupid, she seems to be good at everything. Whereas if Draco says anything I can prove him wrong when we move onto a subject that I am better at. Mainly Draco and I focus on potions and care of magical creatures as they are the two subjects that we can give each other the most help with. Although I wish that I could tell people about it, I know that it would just complicate things more than they already do. So at least for now, it's best to keep it secret.

Trying to get to the library for a study session is difficult. Especially considering that my friends and I are usually practically inseparable. Coming up with a unique excuse every week is proving to be an extremely difficult task. Tonight is more difficult than usual.'Where are you going today?' Hannah asks.'It seems like you always have to be somewhere' Susan adds

Cedric laughs slightly and declares:

'I bet she's seeing someone.'

As expected this causes all of my friends to squeal with excitement while demanding to know who it is. Eventually, I manage to get them to stop asking and head to the library.

Once I arrive, I try to discreetly sit next to Draco and we begin to study. Firstly we work on potions, Draco begins by correcting a few small errors in my essay. After he has done this he quizzes me on the ingredients of the potion we worked on during our last class. Occasionally he rolls his eyes but this doesn't bother me as I know it's not mean-spirited, not to mention that I can do the same thing to him when we move onto care of magical creatures. For some reason Draco is struggling to get his head around the fundamentals of the subject and therefore obviously is finding the more advanced work extremely difficult. Opening 'fantastic beasts and where to find them' (Of course we are using 'the monster book of monsters' in class but I can't be bothered to open it tonight and Newt Scamander has always been one of my role models). Firstly I ask Draco some questions that I know that he will be able to answer with ease, in order to build his confidence in the subject. As I expect he gets them all correct. Because he seems to know the basics, I summarise our last lesson before looking over his homework and making a couple of small changes. This is normally when we both leave without saying a word to each other but today is different, as I get up Draco stops me.

'I think there's something that I should probably tell you...(M/N) is pregnant.'

Suddenly tears start flooding down my face. Even though I know that they disowned me, it still hurts to feel replaced. Quickly, I turn away from Draco and start to walk away from him. However, I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn around. Draco hugs me. Shocked, I slowly hug him back.

'Come on I'll walk you back to your common room.'

He says while comforting me.

'But what if people see us?...what about your reputation?'

I remind him.

'Some things are more important than my reputation.'

He whispers and then smirk and jokingly says

'plus if I do this you'll be in my debt.'

Giving him a small smile through tears, I let him guide me back to my common room. Outside the Hufflepuff common room, I make sure that Draco turns away and knock on the correct barrel. Just before I go inside Draco whispers: 'If your friends ask what the matter is feel free to tell them that I was taunting you, I know it would be extremely difficult for you to talk about the actual reason.'Wiping my eyes on the sleeve of my robe, I definitively tell him:'If they ask I will tell my friends the actual reason. I don't want to lie to them if it is avoidable. Especially if it gets you into trouble.'After I have said this I enter the common room making sure that Draco doesn't have time to object to what I have just insisted upon. Of course, my friends notice that I have been crying and instantly run over. One by one they each pull me into a tight hug, desperately wanting to know why I am so upset. Telling them causes all the emotions to come flooding back. In all honesty, I feel idiotic for even feeling the way that I do. Never in a million years would I ever view the (L/N)s as parents again. However, when my friends hear the news they seem to completely understand and I find that extremely helpful and am almost fully cheered up by bedtime.

Climbing into bed I try to focus on the positives in my life. Fortunately, I have plenty and they can keep me distracted until I drift off into a peaceful undisturbed sleep.

Breakfast. Everyone chatting wearily between bites of toast. Owls flooding in; everyone opening letters. Suddenly something surprises me. I got post. Cautiously optimistic I open it. As soon as I catch a glimpse of the slightly messy handwriting in dark green ink, I know exactly who sent it to me. Draco.'Dear (Y/N), I am writing to check that you are okay after last night. I am so sorry about telling you, however, I felt it would be better to hear the news from somebody you know as opposed to reading it in the daily prophet. I also hope that you can understand why I have had to write to you; speaking would, of course, mean that people could find out that we're friends and neither of us wants that. Another reason that I decided to write this is so that I could ask you if you would like to meet up next time that we go to Hogsmeade so that we can get to know each other better. We would, of course, have to come up with an alternate explanation as to why we were meeting. Draco Malfoy.'
