Nogitsune

Part 2: Is this a storybook?

Kira: 

After that long speech from Mr. McCall, we moved to our next class, Math. Now, I am not a huge fan of math but Maggie loves math, she is a fast learner. Is it just me but Derick seems really tried today, I mean he is not usually like this, he tends to sleep early and wake up early. "Mags? You think Derick is okay?" I asked her, "I don't know, he does seem a bit off." She replied. Great, she agrees with me. Kieden jumps behind us, "Hey guys! Going to class?" He asked, jokingly. "No, going shopping." Maggie replied, sarcastically. "Funny.  Anyways, I got to go to English. So, see you at lunch." He said and ran off. Maggie and I giggled and got to class, Ms. Lisa, our math teacher, was waiting for us at the front door. As we walked in, she passed a paper with the topics of the year, I was already tried looking at it. Ms. Lisa started her class, I started getting sleepy, I lowered my eyelids, I wasn't sure how long I was asleep for but it didn't feel long, to be honest, it felt like seconds. I saw myself tied up to a chair in a dark room, I didn't recognize the room, I looked around the room to see if anyone was there. When I brought my head back in front, I saw someone standing 10 steps away from me. I couldn't see their face but I felt nervous. The figure started walking towards me, as it was 3 steps away from me, a loud bang woke me up. I lifted my head from the table and saw Ms. Lisa standing in front of me with a heavy book on the table, "Ms. Hales. Sleeping already? It is only the first period, try to stay awake." She said and walked away. That dream felt so real, my stomach was turning, it feels like it might come true. 

Maggie: 

I could see Kira being disturbed by something, could be the way Ms. Lisa woke her up like that or if she had seen something. After we walked to our next class, "You had a bad dream or something?" I asked, "I can't tell if it is a dream or it is saying something but it wasn't unicorns." Kira replied, we both giggled and went to our next class. It was English, we walked in sat down. Soon, Nathan walked in, and sat beside us, he had physics before this. We were talking and waiting for class to start when Kieden walked in, we were confused because he just finished English, "Kid, what are you doing here?" I shouted to him, "Um, Kieden, where were you? You weren't here for half the lesson" The teacher, Ms. Jackson, asked, he say nothing but continued walking forward until he got to the other side window. He was looking out of it and didn't say anything, Nathan and I stood up and walked towards him slowly. All of a sudden, Kieden smashed the window glass, the fist had glass pieces stuck to it. "Kieden, what are you doing?" Kira shouted. He bent down, picked up a big piece of the floor, "Dude, I don't what has gotten into you but you will have to snap out of it man." Nathan said, Kieden stared at Nathan, all of a sudden he threw the glass piece towards Nathan. I manage to catch it half an inch away from his face, my heart was racing, what would have happened if I'd didn't catch it.

Kieden:

What did I just do? If Maggie weren't there, I think I would have killed my best friend. I could see everything happening but I had no control over my body, I fainted cold onto the floor. After a few moments of darkness, I found myself in a basement room. I don't recognize the place but it felt familiar. I stood up and looked around, calling out to my friends but no response. I tried looking for an exit, I walked around the room but end up back to where I started. I started getting angry and confused, in the corner of my eye I saw a book. I went near the book and opened it, the front page of the book had my friend's names. I flipped through the book and found a legend that I couldn't understand, almost felt like the words were mixed up.

Nathan:

Maggie, Kira and I carried him to the Nurse's office, we laid him down on the bed, the nurse took an ice pack and placed it on his forehead. The nurse started pulling out the pieces of glass from his hand, she cleaned up the blood and bandaid the wound, "Can you guy take care of him while I go check someone?" She asked, "Of course." Kira said. Maggie was looking at his face, "Maggie, what are you doing?" I asked, "His face is pale." She said, "Why is it pale?" "How would we know?" Kira asked. All of a sudden, Kieden jolted up, screaming at the top of his lungs. The three of us  got scared, "Kieden, shut your siren!"Maggie shouted at him. He closed his mouth, breathing heavily. "Dude, why were you about to kill me just now? Thank God, Maggie was there." I asked him, "Bro, I'm telling you, I wasn't doing it on purpose. Trust me." He said, "Okay, but why did you wake up, screaming like a goat?" Maggie asked, "I dreamt about me being in a basement and found a book with all of our names written on it. And I felt like screaming myself awake." He said, "Great. Which basement was it?" Kira asked. "It felt like school's." He replied. "Are you thinking what I am thinking?" I asked, "Absolutely not, we are not going there." Maggie said, "Oh come on, we were just getting the book. I mean, if it has our names in it then we have to see it." I tried convincing her but she wasn't budging. "Nate is right. We should at least see if it is there." Kira said, "But this is his dream, what if it is not there?" Maggie asked, "Only one way to find out." I said.

Derick:

I just finished my classes for the day and went to our favourite bench that we go to every day. They were already there waiting for me, they told me what happened and they wanting to go to the basement. There is a route to get there. On the ground floor, there is a flight of stairs that are used for emergencies, it is up to the 6th floor. In that same room, there is another door that has another flight of stairs that leads to the basement, the plan was that Maigge and Kira would stay at the staircase while the three of us would go down. As almost everyone left the school, it was time to put the plan into action. Maggie and Kira sat at the stairs and would be face call with us, we went through the door to the staircase. The further we went down, the darker it got, Nathan took out his phone and on flash. We have gotten to the bottom of the stairs, Nathan flashed the light around the room, "Kid, is this what you saw in your dream?" I asked, "Yeah, this is it." He replied, "Guys, hurry up. Find that book and come up." Maggie said, we split up and looked for the book. I didn't like being down here, man. I looked around, finding a book but couldn't find it. Until I heard and a voice shouting from the other side of the basement, "Guys, I found it." Kieden shouted, Nathan and I went towards him. He was looking at the book, I seemed pretty old. The title of it, I couldn't pronounce, "Great, you found. Let's go." I said and pulled Kieden and Nathan out of there. We got to the girls, "Here." Kieden handed the book to Maggie, "What does the title say?" Nathan asked, "Nogitsune." She replied. 

Maggie:

I opened the book and read the context, 'Nogitsune. Translates to Wild Fox, commonly called 'Yako', 'Yakan' and many different names by the locals. These foxes aren't what they seem, they are a type of Kitsune, nine-tailed fox. Kitsunes are Messengers, a sever of God, but a Nogitsune are tricksters. They torment humans, possess them or trick them for their gain. They tend to possess women or whoever is weak both mentally and psychically. At the age of 100, they can shape shift to humans, they typically shape shift into beautiful young women to trick humans out of the house so that they can steal some of their favourite treats such as candle wax, lamp oil, Lacquer and fried tofu.  They are keen on chaos and danger, hate bright light and come at night, they avoid any sharp objects like knives and blades. No matter how powerful they can be, they are scared of dogs, a dog barking can reveal they're true to form. These are just normal Nogitsune, there is one who is too powerful for anyone to control, it is called the Dark. He loves chaos, he lives off of it, a group of monks trapped him into a parallel universe but he has got out. Be careful, he only choose people who will  do anything to save their loved ones.'  I flipped to the next page and read it, "A 16-year-old girl, tied up to a chair, a figure standing in front of her, the moved slowly towards. When it was a few feet away from her, she opened her eyes." At the end of the page had Kira's name written on it, I looked at her and she was shocked, "That was the same dream I had this morning in math class." She said. I continued to the next page, "A 16-year-old boy found himself in a basement like room, he looked around for an exit but couldn't find one, but instead found a book with his friend's names written on it." At the end of the page, Kieden's name was written, "WHat is going on? How does this person know about everything?" Nathan asked, "And what the hell does it has to do with this 'Nogitsune'? Derick added, "I don't but the book has something to do with it. I'm going to keep you updated tomorrow if anyone has similar dreams." I said.
