Chapter Three
I wake up to bright sunlight streaming in through my bedroom window. I rolled over to face the window, squinting my eyes. A sudden thought strikes me, how did I get here? The last thing I remember is watching America's Next Top Model with Nathan and now I am somehow in my bed. Nathan must have carried me up.
I sit up and rub my eyes. I must say, this is one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in, in a long time. I slide out of the warm bed and place my feet onto the cold floor. I pull myself up and into the massive closet. Once inside I rummage through one of the drawers to find a pair of clean underwear and a bra. I lift a matching black lace pair from the drawer and walk into the bathroom that's connected to the main room.
In the shower, the warm water rolls off of my body. I stand there just thinking for a good while. I'd been a while since I'd seen Nathan. He wasn't all that different than he was before, but everything seems different now. Not exactly a troubling kind of different, but different in a way I can not yet explain.
I must have been in the shower longer than I realized, because my skin is now turning a pink color. I reach to turn the water off, then grab a towel. I wrap it around my body and step out, careful not to slip. I've always thought it would be rather strange to die stepping out of the shower naked.
I study my complexion in the mirror. It's mostly clear for the most part, but as expected I do have a few mirror blemishes. I wash my face with face wash, then moisturize. My mom always had pretty clear skin, which I had inherited.
I finally exited the bathroom after completing my morning rituals. I choose a blue and white print dress sundress with thin straps. I've always worn quite a bit of dresses, because they're easier to find then paring outfits together. I slip the dress over my head.
"Hey Ellie-," Nathan appears from behind the door. I pull the dress down all the way, then notice him staring. "Oh umm, sorry... I'll knock next time." He gulps. I smirk, "That is why there's a door there, I do believe." He rolls his eyes, but I can see a faint blush creeping into his cheeks.
"I was wondering if you were ready to go." He's already dressed in a simple white t-shirt and a pair of black jeans with black converse. "Almost, I just have to blow dry my hair and do my make-up."
"I'll just be down stairs then." He responds. I nod then walk slowly to the bathroom. Before I enter, I turn slightly to see Nathan still standing there. As if he knows I saw him, he shakes his head and closes the door.
It takes me only a few minutes to dry my hair and apply makeup, so in under thirty minutes I am making my way downstairs. "You ready?" He asks as he spots me enter the room. I shake my head, "I think so." He shakes his head, "About time."
I punch his shoulder, "Hey, I guarantee that if I'd woken up around the same time that you did, I'd be ready before you." He gives me a doubtful look, "I don't think so."
"You know I'm right, you just don't want to admit it." I remark as he's locking the door to the house. He looks at me from the corner of his eye, "Whatever helps you sleep at night, Ms. Parker."
I roll my eyes at his remark. It's a known fact that Nathan takes almost an eternity to get ready. If you needed to be somewhere at a certain time, you'd tell Nathan you needed to be there an hour before.
"I'm thinking we should drive, since we'll probably have a great deal of bags to carry out." He leads me to the passenger side of his black Range Rover (cliche I know), and opens the door for me.
I climb up into the front seat, "Why thank you." He smiles, "You're welcome." After a few seconds he climbs into the drivers side and cranks the car.
