Chapter Two

"Let me just set these in the kitchen, then I'll show you you're room and give you a tour of the house." Nathan says, still walking around with the burnt cookies. I giggle, then follow him into the kitchen. It is painted a dark blue, and is equipped with the most modern appliances. "Nice kitchen." I remark. He looks up then around the kitchen, "Oh thanks, yeah I don't do much cooking in here, as you can tell." He says, referring to the cookies.

He dumps the charred cookies into the trashcan, then returns the oven mitt to it's drawer. "Come on, I'll show you your room." He says, grabbing on of my suitcases. I follow behind him and up the stairs. He stops at the second room that we come to and opens the door.

The room is huge, much larger than I am used to, considering my old apartment was twice as small as this. "Wow." I say basically to myself but Nathan smiles. "Nice, right?" I nod in agreement. There are only a few pieces of furniture in the room consisting of a king sized bed, a bedside table, a beautiful dresser with a large mirror connected to it, and an old looking record player in the corner.

We walk into the room further and I open a pair of doors on the wall. Inside is a magnificent walk in closet, probably way too big for the amount of clothes I have. "Now, I know there isn't much in here," I hear Nathan say from behind me, "but I was thinking that we could go shopping tomorrow for some decorations, if you'd like."

"Of course, I'd love to! Honestly, I think it's just fine like this." I admit. He slings his arm around my shoulder carelessly, "I know, but I wanted you to be able to add your touch." I look up at him, meeting his eyes. "Thanks, Nath." He smiles down at me, "Anything for you."

We stand there for a few moments just staring into each others eyes. "Well um, I'll let you get unpacked." He clears his throat and looks away. "I was thinking about ordering pizza?" He says, but it came out as more of a question. "That sounds good to me." And with that, he turns around and disappears through the door, but not before glancing in my direction once more.

I am finally alone after being around people all day. Knowing that I'd get distracted if I don't start unpacking right away, I bend down to unzip my suitcase. I then realize that I probably should have opened it in the closet, considering that's where my clothes need to go. I pick up the rather large bag, and struggle to carry it into the closet.

I almost drop it as I go to set it down, and a few clothes fall out. One of my shirts falls out with a loud clunk as it hits the floor. I frown as I reach down to pick it up. As soon as it leaves the ground, a picture frame falls out and lands on top of the other fallen clothes. I drop the shirt and pick up the picture frame turning it around to where I can see it. It is a picture of the boys and I. I am standing in the middle next to Jay and Nathan, with Tom and Max on Jay's side and Siva on Nathan's. I smile, remembering that day.

It had been a relatively sunny day, sunnier than it had been the past week. The boys and I had decided to take advantage of the nice weather, so we walked over to the nearest park. We split into two teams of three and played hide and seek. On my team had been Jay and Max, and on the other team was Tom, Nathan, and Siva.

I let the picture transport me back to that day. The radiant sunlight glistened down on my skin as I hid behind a tall tree surrounded by a few bushes. I could tell that Jay and Max had already been found due to Tom's victorious yelling.

I was quite proud of myself for finding this hiding spot, because so far no one had thought to search here. From my spot I could see Tom and Siva still searching the playground equipment, and Jay and Max lounging on one of the park's many benches. "Ellieee! Come out, come out wherever you are!" Siva called. I stifled a giggle, wanting to remain hidden.
