"I don't believe this! That devil black magician took my necklace!" I fumed. I was sitting in the forest with Will under the cool shade of an oak tree. "Come on (Y/n), we don't know if he took it or not!" Will reasoned.

"Oh I know it! I saw it sticking out of his cloak on the way out of the Barons office!" I was sitting in a tight position, my hands wrapped around my knees, keeping all the sadness and frustration in. That necklace was the last thing I had from my father and now it was taken by that stupid ranger! I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and I groaned in frustration, letting go of my knees and flopping back onto Wills chest. "I'm sorry," I said apologetically.

"We're both having rough days, the least I can do is let you do what you need to." He smiled bitterly at me. "Yeah, well I don't really know what I'm feeling yet," he told me. I sighed again and closed my eyes, thinking about how I would get my necklace back. I must have fallen asleep because I woke up and it was dark in the forest. I slowly got up and saw Will behind me. "Hey, sorry I fell asleep," I told him. "It's alright, I can imagine neither of us got much sleep last night," he amended. "I'm gonna head to bed, you coming?" I asked. "Maybe in a little, I want to stay out here for a couple more moments."

I nodded and left towards the ward, or I seemed to at least. I had come to a decision, I was going to see if Halt had really taken my necklace. I needed to see if the clasp fell of and it was still there, or if I needed to make a stealth mission and steal the necklace back from him in his cabin in the woods. I looked back and once I was out of seeing range from Will, I took a detour to the castle.

I watched the patterns of the light and moved slowly through the open space, my footsteps shifting and falling to the light patterns. It helped that I was wearing black, and the fact that no one would suspect someone going along in open space, especially not a castle ward. Not anymore, I thought bitterly, slowly speeding up and making it to the castle wall. I edged along the side until I found the fig tree. I remembered that it went straight up to the Barons office. A.N: Is anyone else wondering why Will didn't do this? You don't need to scale a castle wall! You can literally climb up the fig tree!!

I climbed up slowly, just like every other time, and I reached the window to the Barons office. I felt a presence there, but I looked in and saw no one, so I quietly climbed through the window and into the room, landing almost silently on the stone floor. I felt that presence again and this time I knew who it was, I had felt that when Halt came into the room unnoticed. "Are you here to steal something else?" I asked into the shadows. Nothing. "I know your here Halt, the question is why are you here?" I asked again. This time I saw a flicker of movement in the shadows to my left. Without warning, I turned on the spot and lunged at the movement, a surprised ranger just moving out of the way in time. I paused and inch from the wall and saw that Halt was in the open now.

"So, what are you doing here?" I asked, smoothing out my jacket. "How did you know I was there?" Halt asked. "I just felt something off about the room, like a presence, and I couldn't see anyone so I assumed you were hiding," I explained. "Yes, but how did you know where I was?" he asked. "I saw a little movement over there." I pointed to where he had been standing a few moments ago.

"I noticed you got out of the way just in time," I smirked. "You enjoy doing that to a kings ranger?" Halt asked menacingly. "No, I enjoy getting you back for stealing my necklace," I accused. Halt's face stayed impassive. "Why did you take it?" I asked patiently. "Why do you have it?" he asked. "Because it was... a gift," I said, not wanting to give to much away. Halt raised an eyebrow at me. "A gift, the bronze oakleaf was a gift?" he asked. "Yes," I said shortly. "Now please give it back," I asked curtly.

"A gift from whom exactly?" he asked, ignoring my previous question. I sighed, almost rolling my eyes, but I knew that would do me no good. "A gift from a family member," I said stiffly. Halt did nothing to show his surprise this time. "A family member? Who exactly?" Halt asked urgently. "My father," I finally relented. Halts eyebrows shot up at my answer. "Well this is peculiar," he said to himself. I noticed that he had it sticking out of the sleeve of his cloak, and I went for it. Planning my maneuver so that when he moved, it would be in the best position. I stuck fast as lightning and before I knew it, I had my necklace in my hand.
