[Chapter 5] Pirates!

After almost two weeks of just cleaning the deck, over, over, over and over again, the deck shined as bright as the sun. The only thing that didn't shine was Pup's attitude towards Silver. He's barely even talked to her, he definitely didn't teach her anything new. He was so busy looking after the ship and just being a captain. She was so annoyed at him, but she didn't dare protest. She was so thankful for him letting her come with him, even though it wasn't as much fun as she originally intended it to be.

It was night when the ship started to shake like an earth quake. Items fell off the shelves and some shattered. Pup and Silver both woke up instantly. Ursids usually can sleep through anything but this- this was different. Silver jumped up and looked through the peep-hole in the cabin door. He gave an aggravated sigh,"pirates." He slipped on his coat and hat and threw open the door. Pup ran out in front of him holding a sword. "Ah- no lass. Not today fer you." He threw her back in the cabin,"It's safe in t'ere." "But- I want to go with-" "Lass. Listen to me it ain't safe, and if ye come outta d'ere, yer gonna be in big trouble." Pup nodded as Silver left and shut the door behind him. Being not allowed out of the cabin didn't mean she couldn't watch.

The attacking ship was smaller than theirs but had a crew of about 30 people. Part of the crew started jumping over on the Hawkins, but some were unsuccessful because of Silver throwing some over board to fall into the abyss of nothingness below the two ships. Silver switched his cyborg arm to a sword and started fending off the smaller pirates. The sharp clanging sound of the two swords coming together made Pup pinned her ears back as she watched. Silver won the fight by stabbing and pushing the pirates over board. Two jumped on his back and he grabbed them and slammed them down on the deck, making them unconscious, he then threw them over too. He looked around and saw no one. He started to make his way back to the cabin when all of a sudden another Ursid, smaller than him of course, stabbed the air pocket in his cyborg leg and pushed him. Silver fell back on the wooden wall next to the artificial gravity switch, causing the bolt holding his leg together to fall off. His thigh and under separated. Silver's cyborg arm had gotten caught under a large barrel that trapped him, he tried to stand but couldn't. The enemy Ursid held up his sword and went to slash at Silver before he felt fangs dig into his neck and a plasma gun blast through his chest. The foe fell to the ground and Pup jumped off his back, landing next to him. Silver was in shock for a while before seeing another pirate emerge from the shadows. They were carrying a bag full of loot. Silver tried to stand but failed, he threw the barrel of off him,"Stand aside lass!" He warned Pup as he pushed her to the side of him and flipped his hand to a plasma gun. He took a shot at the theif but missed, shooting a whole in the bag causing all the loot to spill out. The theif yelled in aggravation as he aimed towards Silver. The Etherium wind started to pick up causing the enemies ship to bump into theirs. This caused the alien to miss his shot, his bullet grazing Pup's side, she growled and sprinted up in the shrouds. The alien shot up at her missing almost every time, Pup jumped on his back, digging her claws in as he fell to the ground. She held him down and grabbed his plasma gun and shot him straight through the head. She looked around to see if anyone else was left and fell back, breathing heavy from exhaustion.
"Ye be alright lass?!" Silver asked breathing heavily through each word as he limped over to her quickly. He had used his cyborg arm as a cane, it wasn't working too well.
"Yeah, yeah..." She assured him, still sitting down. He offered his hand to help her up, she refused it and stood up on her own.
"Are you alright?" She sarcastically asked him, looking down at his thigh, which was missing the peg leg below. "Ah....ill be alright." He rubbed the back of his neck. "T'anks lass...." Silver rested his hand on his neck. "Pft...its No big deal!" Pup winked at him and punched his shoulder playfully. "No, really, if you hadn't disobeyed me I woulda been minced ta bits!" He got eye level with her,"but don't do it again." He said in the lowest and most intimidating voice. Pup look at him, she didn't believe him, she just saved his life! "Are you kidding me?! I just saved your life Joh-" "BELAY THAT!" He yelled waving his organic hand in the air," Ye saved me life, so what?! Ye disobeyed teh captin'!" He was angry as a raging fire. He fixed his face to give a soft smile,"which was a brave ting ta do.." Pup gave a confused look and fixed her posture. He patted her back,"I'm proud of ya, pup." She smiled at his words "Proud of me, he's proud of me!" Her tail was wagging as fast as strong solar winds. He chuckled and went to put both of his hands on her shoulders, without realizing he swapped his cane for his hand, he stumbled. Pup caught him before he fell,"let's go to the cabin, Captain." She then guided him over to the cabin but not before grabbing the rest of his peg leg and the bolts and screws that flew off in the action.
