With time fleeting tears cease to be...

Four years later...

I stood outside my balcony watching the city lights allowing the cool wind to comfort me on the warm night.My phone dinged distracting me from my thoughts and I took a look at it and I saw a message from Mary.I sighed inwardly knowing that she was probably reminding me to be up by three in the morning to be on time for our flight.It had been four years in the modelling industry and my life was a success I looked really amazing and had lots of money for any necessities I desired but I felt like something was still missing and I couldn't pinpoint what it was.I took a sip of the warm water trying to let it's tastelessness envelope my throat which was sore.I hated it when I caught a cold I could barely breathe properly since my nose was stuffy and I hated traveling.I had been all over Africa working for various brands of companies and now this time the deal that was closed for me was abroad in the US and I felt anxious.I walked to bed placing my mug of warm water and phone on the night stand.I felt sleep embrace me quicker than expected.I was pulled into a dream that I barely understood.I was running in the Savannah in my animal form enjoying the beauty of a warm day.My powerful hind legs pushed me forward as I spotted an antelope and gave it a chase my agility swifter than the antelope drove me past it and I discovered I out ran it.It was comical how the antelope stared a t me in fear with it's huge doe eyes realizing it was trapped.I walked away from the antelope changing to my human form and climbing a tree to eat wild fruits.I fell asleep and woke up to a strange noise in the woods I could see the noise was coming from the lake.I watched with my enhanced vision as a snow white wolf made it's way to the lake and drank some water.It hauled as the evening approached it stood by the lake trying to take it's surrounding the magnificent beast seemed as if it sniffed for something in the air.With a speed that would rival a cheetah it sped to the direction of the tree I was on.I jumped down from the tree and landed effortlessly behind it taking a deep breath as I let my body take form of a wolf.Midnight fur sprouted over my whole body as my body took it's wolf form.Normaly it would require me using all my energy to change form to a creature that I have laid my eyes on for the first time but surprisingly I felt ok.The snow white wolf turned and looked at me the first thing that I noticed were hazel eyes so beautiful than the sunset happening around us I felt captivated to depths of hazel I have never seen my heart stopped for a minute and a feeling like no other spread like like electricity over my whole body."Mate!"the wolf growled.Strategic steps were taken as it inched closer to me and I couldn't breathe anymore my eyes were transfixed my body was frozen in a feeling I couldn't quite describe it wasn't fear but something more scary yet appealing.The wolf jumped at me and bit my neck a sudden jolt spread through my body and I welcomed it and fear like no other spread through me when I realized what was happening,"I might be dying,"I thought to myself.The wolf left my neck and stood a distance away from me and in it's eyes I saw something like guilt and with one last longing look that seemed to be asking for forgiveness it turned and sped just as it came making me think that maybe it was a fragment of my imagination but the bite marks proved otherwise.I jolted from bed sweat dripping down my face as the dream I had or I should say a memory of the past flashed across my eyes.Tears lazily left my eyes as my heart broke.It had been four years and I still wondered why I couldn't let go of him and that's when after years I remembered that day I had just turned eighteen and I met him for the first time.Even after marking me he still left me that evening and even after we met three years later he still abandoned me without telling me his name or where he came from or why he marked me without my consent he just left me with money as a comfort to his heart.I felt torn apart worse than the day he said his goodbye and my heart felt stubbed by a hunter's arrow I was only a pawn to him.Thinking through it even after saving his life he had the nerve not to tell me his name or where he came from.What hurt the most is that he knew I was his mate but he still left without a care in the world.I used to think wolves were esteemed creatures who were posessive of their mates but him he proved me wrong I started feeling that he was like those wolves who rejected their mates like in the novels I had read.Why did he reject me is it because he knew what I was and thought I was disgusting or he knew I had nobody in this world whatever his reason for abandoning me was he should have told me that I was his mate but why did he lie to me saying he had found his mate and he would be looking forward to see her.In my eyes he was pretty boy the hazel eyed stranger but now he was a man who chose to reject me within even knowing who I was in the first place.No matter how I felt I loathed him for his betrayal there was a feeling running rampant in my heart more than loathing, I loved him.

"Rudolph your fiancee will be here anytime now why are you mopping,"Trent said.I watched the dark night taking a deep breath as I remembered that I first met her on the night of the full moon and I marked her accidentally.It seemed that she couldn't really me when she saved me four years ago maybe it was because she had not seen me in my human form.I pushed back my thoughts trying to get myself around.Tonight was the first time in many years that my heart felt so restless as if something was about to happen my instincts were so sharp and so alive that I refused to ignore the fact that something was going to happen.My best friend Trent and also my beta kept nagging me to tell me what's wrong and I finally gave in,"You are thinking of her again?"he asked and I nodded silently not willing my voice to speak.There was a hooting of cars around the pack house and I saw three cars drive in.It was the Alaya pack that had arrived today unfortunately was my wedding day and I had to fulfill obligations as the alpha of my pack as the position was handed over to me by my father.Marriage had been fixed between me and the daughter to the alpha of the Alaya pack to strengthen our packs.I was currently dressed in my suit ready to make my way to the courtyard where the wedding will be taking place.Trent and I didn't exchange words as we walked out to the courtyard.He was my best man and he had to accompany me to the altar.People from our pack and other allied packs were present at my wedding.I made my way to the altar as everyone clapped and I put my hands together to show gratitude.The alter was covered with so many flowers that it looked heavenly.My grandmother who was the eldest and the previous alpha of the pack would be conducting my wedding.I got to the altar and gave my grandfather a hug as he congratulated me."This is it my boy you are marrying the woman you love,"he said.I wouldn't call it love if I were him I mean I didn't hate Constance but I wasn't in love with her my heart belonged to someone else although I would be a dutiful husband and fulfill all my obligations to her.I turned to watch the carpet that has been adorned with flowers while waiting for my bride to be.They played the song a thousand years by Christina Perri as the bride walked in and everyone stood up.My eyes fell on the girl who was beside Constance her dark skin radiant under the night sky her hair in a messy ban adorned with emerald flowers her earrings were also emerald in colour her necklace followed suit with emerald her eyes as honey brown as always that would take the glory of the sun during a warm summer.My eyes travelled to her bare shoulders that had nothing to hide.Her skin looked so smooth and touchable,she wore a long emerald dress that stuck to her from her breasts to her waist then it flowed freely to her legs and covered them.Her hands had emerald transparent emerald gloves that shone under the starry night.They say nature is beautiful but the person who stood next to my bride helping her with her gown was nature at it's best display.She was gorgeous I looked at my bride who was in white and my heart tore apart she looked beautiful but nothing compared to the woman standing beside her she was the one that ruled my dreams every night and conquers my heart every beat it takes she was my mate my better half.I had been so engulfed in her beauty that I didn't realize my bride stood before me questions were running wild in my mind with no answers why was she here is it because she knew about my wedding and wanted to stop it but I had not told her anything about me so it was impossible for her to know I would be here.I focused on my bride as she joined our hands and turned to look at my grandfather."Anyone here who is against this wedding should stand now before I administer the vows,"Grandfather said.Not even a single soul dared to stand all that time I looked at her but she looked happy just like everyone else not even daring to move."We are gathered here today to witness the wedding of our son the alpha to the Tivana pack Rudolph Tivana to Constance Alaya the daughter to alpha Barrin of the Alaya pack in holy matrimony.Do you Rudolph take Constance as your lawful wedded wife to love and to cherish to protect and to guide to standby her during her toughest time and her wonderful times until death do you apart?"grandfather asked.I was silent for a while as I waited for my mate to stop the wedding but no maybe she didn't recognize me."I do,"I said everyone was happy as whistles followed then my grandfather repeated the vows to Constance and she agreed.The rings were to be brought by my mother and as she was bringing them the ring I was to put on Constance fell and it rolled over to my mate and only stopped once it was by her feet.She bent down and picked it up as she made her way towards me and she looked directly into my eyes and she said,"I believe this yours."Betrayal flashed in her eyes so quickly that if I wasn't watching her closely I wouldn't have noticed.My wolf kept screaming at me for being a fool and I decided to shut him out.We exchanged rings with Constance and once we were done my grandfather announced,"You may kiss the bride."I leaned in and closed my eyes as a face that I had grown to love appeared before me and I imagined I was kissing her but I pulled apart realizing it was Constance I kissed.I turned to see if she still stood behind Constance but she was gone.
