Tris

I opened my eyes and I was welcomed by the bright light coming from the window of my room.

He was smiling when he looked at me but I saw how his expression changed when he saw that I was looking disappointed in what I saw in the kitchen.

"Maybe you could at least pretend that you're glad that I'm here," he joked.

Hindi ko lang pinansin ang sinabi niya at walang buhay na tumuloy maglakad at naupo sa kusina kung saan nakahanda na ang umagahan ko dahil kay Dream.

"How did I get here? I remember passing out at Aiden's house..." I talked when he sat in front of me and was about to eat. He then diverted all his attention to me and prepared to talk.

"They called me because I was the only contact that you saved on your phone besides Aiden," he explained and I just nodded once, telling him that I understand.

"Hindi na din daw mag fi-file ng lawsuit 'yung dalawang nurse na..." he stopped in the middle of his sentence and remained looking at me. I avoided his eyes when he did that and started eating my breakfast.

"I lost my mind at that moment..." I low-key gave my reason to him without giving him any glances.

And why do they have the power of filing a lawsuit when they are the one who kept on provoking me with their words, knowing the state that I am in. I just rolled my eyes and continued eating.

"But Aiden... he called my name, he called me nonstop so I got to stop what I was doing to them," I stopped and looked at him when I remembered Aiden and he just looked at me with pity in his eyes.

"You're still in the process of mourning, Tris. You will experience a lot of things and that includes thinking that Aiden is still not leaving... you were wondering if he could still be alive so you believe that he called you. You can mourn in any way you want but you still have to be careful," He gently told me, being careful not to provoke me in any way.

"You will be haunted by your regrets and sadness in every way possible so you have to be prepared," he added and that's when he caught my attention again.

"How do you know all of that?" I curiously asked.

He blinked a couple of times before looking at me like he was ready to tell a long story.

"I sound so experienced, right? Before Dad... I also once mourned hard for someone that I adore the most. I let her die on me while waiting for the 'right time' and that was my biggest mistake, believing in something that's non-existent," he smiled the pain away and was playing with his food.

"Like you I was also clueless... I never knew. I never would have known... so the only advice that I can give you is that everyone of us will have our own fair share of regrets whenever we lose someone we cherish whether they knew... or not," he then smiled again, genuine this time and continued eating normally.

"Who died?"

"My mother... she committed suicide when she found out Dad wouldn't make it anymore," he scoffed.
