Torn between her blood and her kin Rekena may be an elf but her loyalty and love lies with the dwarfs under the mountains. Raised from a young age by the men of Durin she has fought to earn her place alongside their warriors but as the races of middle earth are called to destroy a great evil she will follow her kin once again to war.

Unsure of who she really, Rekena is reminded of her eleven blood as a fellowship of the most unlikely companions battles across middle earth to say the very known world before it is too late.

Sadly been left in the drafts catching dust for far too long I have decided to revisit this book, it has been five years since Rekena's journey began and perhaps for me a silver lining of 2020 can be that I decided to come back to this passion project of younger days.  I have always love middle earth and so I always new I wanted to write in such a magically vidid world; somewhere between my drafts, notes and multiple wiki pages I hit inspiration and finally understood that it was Rekena who I wanted to write this story with.  When I started out with her in 2015 all I had was a name and notion that I was writing about an elves who dwelt among dwarves and that was probably why I hit a brain block so early on.  Now, however, I find myself with direction and thankfully (perhaps finally) know what the future holds for Rekena.

It is with a happy heart that I can say the show shall go on!  Under the swanky new name Numinous, Rekena shall endure in a new light but she shall still be the same formidable young lady.

numinous

(adj.) describing an experience that makes you feel fearful yet fascinated, awed yet attracted - the powerful, personal feeling of being overwhelmed and inspired.

This word has a powerful meaning but also I think a deep connection to what I am setting out to do with this book and these characters.  Numinous is perhaps the only word that truly encapsulates the way I feel looking upon Tolkien's master piece, his world building is unparalleled and the mystery of middle earth is rather beautiful.  Furthermore, Rekena herself as a character invokes such feelings - she is wild and unnamable and often hard to pin down but I feel as though perhaps numinous would be the word for how she would feel upon the eve of a journey so great as that awaiting the Fellowship of the Ring.

Rekena's journey shall begin anew!

Thanks for your continuing support and to new readers welcome!
