«Sero»

It was on the pure second day she came here.

After finishing last gym class, we all headed straight for the dorms. Midoriya was looking for the newbie, yesterday he said something like he spend the day in Aizawa's apartment with her and Eri, so I guess they got along ever since.

I saw her talking to Aizawa, she was gesturing like asking for directions, but I didn't say that to Midoriya.

There was something about her and the way she was that felt.., weird. At first I was convinced it was quite obvious: she's a foreigner, she doesn't have the Japanese customs at all. But.., each time I saw her, the more familiar something felt...

I didn't say anything to him and instead went back to the gym, with the excuse of having forgot something.

When I got back, Aizawa was coming out of there, so I stopped by to ask. He said she went to pick up the school stuff, and asked me to help her carry the things.

So I ran there, but I didn't see her in the offices, I assumed she'd be checking her locker to put the books in, so I went there.

And so I found her. Alone, putting the books inside and.., talking...

"I ask you, papa, to help me to be okay, to... be stronger, intelligent, aware. Please, take care of everyone there, I promise you I'll know how to take care of me until I can go back and help them all to have the freedom they deserve, meanwhile.., just stay with me and help me grow. Thanks for this opportunity, God, papa, universe.., I swear I'll do it well".

And she kissed her thumb.

It wasn't the fact I heard her pray what surprised me, but... the fact she said it in Spanish.

A totally, beautiful perfect Spanish.

Even her voice was so different, like.., so.., native...

So I knew it.

* * *

"So..?" She says, so, so obviously nervous.

I sit in here with her, getting in such a nice position, feeling rarely... so comfortable...

I don't answer right away, it takes me a while to settle my ideas despite the fact I already practiced like ten hours this morning.

I don't really know how to start, and the more I think about it, the more time passes and the more I know I'm making her get nervous.

So an idea comes.

When I heard her speak in Spanish, it was like everything was said for me, like everything was explained just by listening to someone speak the same language as me. I mean, it's one that's only spoken in two places in the world, and in one of them the accent is quite noticeable, so it's just one option left.

I take a big breath, I look at her and, trying to give a calming smile, I say: "It's good to meet a countryman on the other side of the world, huh?"

Her eyes widened since the very first word she heard me say, and now her eyes are so bright I can't tell if it's because she's so excited, or if she actually wants to cry.
