He sauntered into the royal court with a wide smile on his face. Like he didn't give a care about anything in the world. He was right. Elena couldn't leave like that without informing him.
Anyone would say he was foolish for close to a court lady or even possessive of his court lady. He was not, he just wanted his friend all to himself. He even wanted to befriend her brother, that way they'd be friends altogether.

"Why are you so late to court Jayson?"A loud voice asked making him snap out of his thoughts.  "And where on earth have you been?" The king asked again. Jayson looked at Jayden who was mouthing some words to him.
"I... got caught up.... o-on my way here" he said looking from Jayden to the king.
"That's an improvement, at least you weren't sleeping" the king said. "Sit down, Desmond is coming this morning, he says it's urgent, there's no better person to receive him than you, after all you're his successor."
Jayson nodded and sat beside Jayden.
"Thanks" he whispered.
"I'm so done covering up for you, the next time you come late you'd make up your own excuse" Jayden whispered back.
Jayson was grateful, at least his brother still cared for him. He wanted to say thanks but he saw Esther looking at him intently. He offered her a small smile and looked back to his brother.
He didn't get to say any other thing as noise was heard from the entrance.
The king stood up immediately and walked towards the door. Jayden was quick to stand and open the door wide for his father. King Desmond was hurrying in through the outer court.
He had a wide smile on his face as the court ladies bowed in greeting.
"To what do I owe this visit, king Desmond?" King Edgar asked pulling him in for a hug.
The latter chuckled. "Don't go all royal on me, how's your health?"
"Good good, I'm getting better now that I have Jayden helping out. The work load has reduced drastically."

Jayson was seriously offended. He didn't attend all those royal meetings and tea parties in vain. "I've been helping out too" he said smiling at his uncle.
"Of course you have, Edgar just doesn't realize it" Desmond said bringing him in for a hug. Jayson made faces at Jayden.
"Esther, oh my god. you've totally grown into a beautiful young lady" he said taking her hand.
She smiled. "Uncle you say this every time. As if you didn't see me last two months, thanks my lord."
"Any suitors?" Desmond asked wiggling his eye brows.
Esther laughed. "Well, yes. but I'm not ready."
Desmond smiled in understanding. "That's okay, take your time." He hugged Jayden and commented on how he got more handsome since he'd last seen him.

"You said it was urgent" Edgar said sitting down opposite his friend. "Trust me I wouldn't come here if it wasn't, especially not at the crack of dawn."
Edgar frowned. "You do that a lot. You tell me it's important then you come and we drink and then you go."
Desmond looked at his friend accusingly. "You do that too. You did it last week before sending the boys over."

'These men are so unbelievable' Jayden thought as he watched the older men bicker. So his father actually left them sometimes to go and drink with uncle Desmond. So much for being all royal.
No wonder his dad didn't go with them to the recent event.

"It's really urgent this time, I promise" king Desmond said. "She's here"
Edgar frowned. "Who's here?"
"Lisbeth. Or her daughter" he quickly added. "either one of them, I don't know, but she's here" Desmond whispered.
Edgar knew that there was no way Desmond was joking about this. They hadn't mentioned that name in a long long while, so whatever it is must be serious.
"You're dismissed" he said to his children.
He watched as the all bowed one by one and left.
"I don't understand, can you be more...."
"The ceremony I held at my place, she came with the boys."
"With the boys? You're saying she's one of the court ladies?"
"That's right."
"So how do we find her? I haven't seen anyone like that in this palace."
"I figured, you'd have told me otherwise. Let's summon all the court ladies and maids that way we wouldn't miss anyone."
Edgar nodded. "But do you really think Lisbeth would do that? Come to work in the palace? I mean...."
"I don't know but we need to find her."
"You still love her?" The question made Desmond pause.
"I'm sorry but you know she's probably married now" Edgar continued.
"What about my...."
"I know, I know. I'll help you find her, don't blame her tho. She didn't run away by herself, she was ordered to."
"I know, let's just find her. I hope it doesn't make you uncomfortable?, I'm sorry I'm just..."
Edgar smiled and held his hand. "No it doesn't, stop over thinking. I'd do anything that'd make you happy, I don't want my best friend getting bothered over something I can help with"
Desmond nodded. "The girl I saw, she was so young. I doubt it's Lisbeth maybe her daughter?"
"Let's just check." Edgar wasted no time in calling for a court lady and ordered her to summon all the court ladies and maids.
