"Please give this to Jayson. Make sure he reads it." Elena handed a folded brown envelope to Jayden. She stepped back when she handed it over, making sure to avoid his eyes.
Stephen looked dejectedly at the brown envelope. If he had written something, would Jayson read it? But still he should have tried.
"I will my lady." Jayden tucked the letter into his coat as he entered his carriage. His gaze lingered on Elena who looked away from him. He looked away when king Desmond cleared his throat. "I'll get going now uncle. Bye my queen."
"Take care. Tell Edgar I'll come visit soon."
"Will do my lord." He bowed one more time before ordering the carriage to start moving.
"Can I come with you?" Elena asked her dad as they walked back into the castle.
"To?"
"To see king Edgar. Please I need to go see Jayson."
"Just Jayson?" Lisbeth enquired. Elena nodded.
"Please mama, Jayden informed me that his health condition is getting worse." She looked at her mom with pleading eyes.
"Do you want to go too Stephen?" King Desmond asked, hoping that the boy will agree to come with him.
"No. Someone has to watch over the kingdom. I don't want to go."
"It's okay. I can stay back." Lisbeth said smiling.
"No mama, I'm not leaving you alone in this place where I'm not even sure that they've fully accepted us." Stephen shook his head vehemently. "Not happening."
"We can all go together." Desmond announced. "We won't be sleeping over, just for a day."
"That's much better." Lisbeth agreed. "When do you suggest we go?" She looked up to her husband, smiling sweetly at him.
"I'll check my schedule and get back to everyone. Is that okay?" Desmond nodded after they all agreed and kept walking back into the castle. The family he always craved for was finally here with him. The joy of being a father. The joy of being with your loved ones. This was his family.
"You stayed longer!" Jayson's accusing voice rang out from the other side of the door. "You promised to come back earlier. How can I trust you now!"
"I'm sorry Jayson, I really am." Jayden begged. He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. This was totally getting out of hand. He was still dressed like he was this morning before he departed from Desmond's castle. Some court ladies were standing behind him carrying his bag. He'd been standing outside his own room for almost an hour. Doing what you may ask. Begging his brother to open up his own room for him.
According what the matron told him, Jayson slept with her and ran out immediately he woke up to dress up. Jayson waited at the royal gates for Jayden until a little before evening. The poor boy had been devastated, thinking that Jayden had abandoned him because he was a burden to him. He cried and locked himself up in Jayden's room. When Jayden came back, he had to report to his father first and that angered Jayson the more. Which was what led to Jayden being stuck outside his room.
"I can't hear your voice." Jayson called out quietly. "Did you leave again?"
Jayden noticed that his voice had gone higher and soon he would be crying. If he would at least open the door, he'd be glad. A man needed rest. So he kept shut.
He heard sniffles and hurried footsteps and the door burst open. "Ja... oh you're here." Jayson said wiping his eyes and looking around to observe the court ladies. "Why weren't you talking again? Are you tired of me!"
"No I'm not." Jayden answered genuinely. "But I'm tired. I just got back from a trip and I deserve rest. Don't you think so?"
"D- don't come in." Jayson stuttered. "You promised to come earlier. If you had come earlier, you would not have been in my black list, plus you'd have gotten rest."
"I got into an accident Jayson." Jayden said, his face blank. He was really tired and didn't want to go back and forth with his brother.
Jayson gasped. "Oh my God!" He took Jayden's hands and scanned it, turning him around to look around his body. "I had no idea. you see I knew you wouldn't come back so late just like that. Something must've happened."
Jayden nodded. "It's okay. Let's go in." He pushed open the door and smiled when he saw some of Jayson's clothes on top of his desk. "Your clothes shouldn't be here jay, take them to my closet.
Jayson nodded and carried the clothes away. He came back quite quickly and stood close to Jayden who was getting rid of his clothes.
"I have a letter from Elena. She was so worried about you."
Jayson's eyes lightened up at the mention of his friend. "She was? Is she gonna come soon?"
Jayden handed him the brown envelope. "That's for you to find out."
Jayson tore the envelope almost immediately. He scanned the letter rather quickly and smiled broadly. "She promised to come soon." He stretched out his hand again. "Shouldn't I have one more letter?"
Jayden shook his head reluctantly. "No you don't, because you've not written back to him for the one he wrote earlier."
"That's bullshit. He has forgotten me. How could he forget me." His eyes became teary.
Jayden cursed under his breath and held Jayson close. "He didn't forget you okay? He is simply awaiting a reply from you."
"He should've written another one. Do you think he forgot me because I'm fat?"
"What?" Jayden frowned at him. "Nothing like that. He loves you, unconditionally. Okay."
"No he doesn't. Fine I'm gonna forget him too. He's mean."
"No he's not mean. He needs you more this time around. He's been through a lot and is being taught the royal way of living. The poor boy has a lot going on."
Jayson shrugged. "I need to go eat. Elena said 'make sure you don't skip your meals Jayson.'" He smiled. "Jayson won't skip his meals."
Jayden smiled at him and laid down on his bed to sleep. "I'm gonna go to bed now."
"Me too." Jayson announced climbing into the bed with him. "You didn't give me cuddles yesterday. Cuddle up cuddle up." He chanted as he climbed on top of Jayden and rested his chest on his head.
Jayden laughed and hugged him back. They soon drifted into a long sleep.
