We walk for a long while until the sun is high in the sky, that is when we decide to stop. We get a fire started and cook up some food.
"I guess we should learn sometime how to use a sword." Pippin says.
"Yes. It's probably a useful skill." I say with a chuckle. I stand and wipe some dirt off of myself. I draw my sword and point it at them. "Lets see what you got." Merry and Pippin get up quickly and pull their swords out. For some time I show them the proper way to hold the sword and some simple moves. We practice over and over until they stand to get it. I smile at them.
"There you go." I say proudly. Aragorn sits nearby, smoking his pipe, and Boromir is not too far either.
"You look good Pippin." Merry says.
"Thanks!" Pippin says excitedly. I smile brightly at the two young boys.
"Faster now." I say and swing again.
"Move your feet." Aragorn encourages, as he smokes from his pipe. I feel something in the air suddenly.
"Ah!" Pippin says I realize that I accidentally hit his hand.
"I'm so sorry!" I say. Pippin kicks me in the shin.
"Ow!" I say.
"Get her!" Merry yells. They both jump on me and I stumble back. Shrieking with laughter.
"For the shire!" Pippin yells and I burst out laughing. I pretend to fight them off as they tackle me. I hear Aragorn laughing nearby. "Hold her Merry! Hold her!" Pippin says.
"Gentlemen!" Aragorn says, I hear the laugh on his voice. "That's enough." Aragorn tries to grab them off of me but each hobbit grabs a leg and throws his backwards. I cringe as he falls hard on his back. I finally get them off of me and stand up. That feeling comes back again and I realize that Legolas is staring at the sky.
"What is that?" Sam asks him. I absentmindedly put my arms around the two boys.
"Nothing," Gimli says. "Just a wisp of cloud."
"It's moving fast." Boromir says.
"And against the wind." I say. My stomach sinks.
"Crebain from Dunland!" Legolas yells.
"Hide!" Aragorn shouts. I grab the two boys and pull them to the rocks. Sam quickly puts out the fire and we all hide underneath the rocks. I hold the two boys close to me as a huge flock of crows circles overhead of us. When they finally disperse. We crawl from under the rocks. I look around, making sure everyone is okay. Looks to Frodo first, he seems alright. Just a little frightened.
"Spies of Saruman." Gandalf says. "The passage south is being watched. We must take the Pass of Caradhras." I shiver just thinking about the biting cold of the mountain. But it is the way we must go. We pack up all of our things and start the journey to the treacherous mountains.
