Song: Run - Bring Me The Horizon

Threil says my ankle is finally healed enough that I can move around freely now. I can't believe I tripped over a tree root and managed to do that much damage. I've always been a bit clumsy though. I'm excited to go out on jobs again. I feel like I've been trapped in the house for so much longer than I really was. Threil has been super nice to me as well. I've enjoyed spending time with him. He's always been so nice when I'm sick or injured, other times he gets angry easily. He loves me though, he tells me that a lot. I've read about love and everything I read said it was really nice. It's not bad but the books never mentioned it hurting the way it does when he is angry or affectionate. I have no one to ask about it though. Maybe since there's hurt involved, they didn't want to make the books sound sad. It makes sense, I suppose.

After bathing and dressing, I make my way into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for Threil. He'll wake up soon and once we eat I'll start on my household duties and test my ankle. I hope that he will allow me to work tonight. The weather has been so nice lately. I've been longing for the warm windy nights again as if I'd finally connected that tugging feeling to something tangible but now I can't recall what it is or could have been. It's just another thing to be annoyed by... While the skillets heat up on the stove, I move across the kitchen to grab the plates and cutlery. I hesitate as I notice only five plates in the cabinet but I remember mentioning that he'd dropped one the other day while putting them away. It's a wonder he hadn't cut himself, though I would have definitely heard about it if he did. He's afraid of blood, but is a very adept fighter. If I ever went through a rebellious phase, he fought tooth and nail not to lose me and would bring me back home. It's almost amusing to see such an intimidating man freak out at the sight of a paper cut though.

"Good morning, Love."

"Good morning, Sir. You're up early."

"Well, I heard someone moving around in my kitchen and thought I should investigate." He chuckles before I feel him kiss the top of my head.

"Since I'm healed now I thought it was time to return to my duties, starting with breakfast."

"You should wear your hair down more often, I like it better that way."

"Yes Sir."

The day passes by with a relative ease but with no new job assignment. Threil had been rather pleasant and only got cross with me once. He is temperamental at times so I am not sure if I can ask him about going out without upsetting him. I'll just have to do it as nicely and respectfully as possible. He is reading though... I carefully get to my feet and kneel on the floor in front of his chair before bowing my head to the floor.

"I'm sorry to bother you, Sir... but-"

"What is it, Elydia? You know I can't hear you with your voice muffled like that." He sighs as he peers down at me over the edge of the book.

"I'm sorry Sir, I was just wondering- well, since my ankle is healed now-"

"Get to the point."

"Are there any jobs available for me to take on tonight? I'd like to go out, please." I answer quietly.

"You're not going out." He snaps and the harshness of his tone startles me.

"I-I'm sorry Sir, I just thought that since I'd been injured for some time that there may be-"

"I said no!"

"Could I have permission to sit out in the yard for a whil-?" I'm cut off by his book striking me in the face.

"You are not going outside Elydia! Learn to listen you little brat!" Threil crouches in front of me and roughly grabs my chin. "Get out of my sight if you know what's good for you, understood?"

He releases me by knocking me backward then settles back in the chair.

I quietly close the door to my bedroom and rest my back against it. I hadn't realized that he would be so worked up over asking that of him. If we had good days he usually didn't mind letting me sit outside. What could be bothering him so much that it would set him off so harshly? With him there's no telling. I sigh and cross the room to at least open the window for the fresh air before changing into more comfortable clothing. I settle in the windowsill and absently rub at my lip. The book struck me directly across the mouth, leaving a small gash and a bit of swelling in it's wake. It won't take long to heal, just a few days really. A breeze passes through the window, moving my long hair into my face. It is a beautiful night, absolutely stunning with a full moon hanging overhead but I can only enjoy it from in here and it's not the same. I want to run freely through the fields without a single care in the world.

"Goodnight Elydia." I hear through the door.

"Goodnight Sir."

His door closes across the hall and that soft thud is enough to send every fiber of my being in a frenzy of just one thought.

Run.
