LAURIE

Sarah had saved us from the wrath of Marie, we both understood that. So when she had her own demands we listened to them promptly. I had to figure you who would sign a paper saying no trial. Who would make a deal with these deranged souls? What kind of lawyer out there would work with us like this?

None. I couldn't think of a single one.

"Officer Daniels I would like to tag along when you go to the lawyer's office, I can be of great help. What we are dealing with is beyond what you can explain". I nodded, no lies there.

"Only problem sir, I haven't got a single clue who would help us in such a condition of this".  We move to my desk flipping through the lists of defenders that have helped with many of our officer's cases.

"Will this one work"? Margret Andrews, mother of two. Worked every day all day, her only proud moment in life is when she put the stone wall killer away. The man would kill his victims and cut their bones up and build cement around them. Finally making a 6 foot wall all around his yard.

"No, she'll want to get life for sure. She's a bully". I unconsciously yawned a little to wide.

"Tired Daniels are ya"? I turn to the Voice and I couldn't help but let the smile that formed on my lips expand. Joshua Banks, another young detective that came in the day I did. But maybe he could help.

"Yes Banks, I am tired I have been up all night. Come with us". I lead the way with Banks behind me and Dr.Mills bringing in the rear as we made a beeline to the viewing room of the interrogation room. "Has anyone said anything about the case I've been working on"?

"Yeah they all say she's coo-coo. Crazy. A real piece of work". His eyes stared at Annabelle who was slightly pacing back and forth in the room. Arguing with herself, or more like Sarah and Marie going at it.

"It's multiple personalities Banks. I mean it's a very sophisticated case. There's two other personalities in her mind, they are extremely intelligent and complex. They can make Annabelle think she's at home sleeping while they went out in her body killing multiple men. Now this is where I need help".

He broke his gaze from Annabelle, a look of surprise on his face. I asked for help, from a rookie."Alright, hit me".

I smile happy he was willing to help, "we need the name of a defender. Someone that will be willing to give young Annabelle a deal. A deal where she won't have to endure any trial, but will go straight to a hospital. Preferably Dr.Mills' facility where he can keep an eye on her".

"I can't do that". My face dropped and he noticed, "I am from a family of lawyers you know, the Black sheep of the family. A detective not a lawyer, and want to know why? Lawyers are the real pigs. The minute the get a whiff of a case like this they will take you straight to trial. And they will be the first ones to let the press know about it, it'll get their face out there. The one that tried a young girl with multiple personalities. Media, lawyers and the general public would have a field day with her".

I ground, he was right. "What am I supposed to do. I need that full confession but she won't give it unless Annabelle is safe".

"You know, I got a buddy that went on to being a judge. Let's go conference call him. I bet he'll have a solution".

I jumped up hugging Banks tight. It was like music to my ears, this insanity could finally come to an end.
