Ten years later

LAURIE

"Hello Mr.Banks".

"And good morning Mrs.Banks". I grin at Joshua who stood cooking in our kitchen in his his boxers.

"Off to see her"? I laughed and smiled as I nodded my head. Over the past ten years Annabelle showed great progress and is finally being released to be on on her own.

"Dr.Mills said she has come a long way, and friendly faces to see her off will only help her in the healing process. He feels very confident she can make a good transition back into a normal life".

"Has she even been out of the hospital"? His question was normal, and made me laugh. "I mean it'll be a shock to her won't it, if she hasn't been out that is"

"Dr.Mills took her on trips, he does That for most of his able patients. And I mean I've signed her out more then once, for shopping trips and even an over nighter trip for our wedding". He grinned and wrapped his arms around me in a loving embrace.

"Do you know how great you are"?

"Yeah I do".

I smiled and pranced all the way to my car smiling from ear to ear.

"Where is she"? I beamed my smile to Dr.Mills who smiled just as brightly as I did. Dr.Mills is proud of Annabelle, he says she's his greatest recovery story.

"She's in the room. She's been packed and ready to go since last night". He gave a chuckle and a sigh.

"Laurie you're here, I'm glad". She pulled me into an embrace and I smiled at her. She had budded into a beautiful woman, 27 now and was ready to make it on her own. And I had faith she'll do it.

"What you plan on doing?  Where you going?".

"California. I want to be an actress. I am ready to put my life in Hollywood. Might even write a t.v. show or book. Gonna make something out of myself". I smiled deeply at her, she could and will make it.

"You know Laurie I can act extremely well. I mean you should know from experience". I gave her a confused look as her face quickly morphed and her voice hardened. "My best characters ever. Marie and Sarah". In an instance her voice went back to her own and she smiled brightly. "Double jeopardy, Thanks for that. Now to take my acting skills on".

And with that I watched as she walked out of the hospital, she never turned back. A confidence in each step, a twitch in her hip. She was free.

And I just watched her leave.
