Frantic panting and gasping came from Ruv as he was getting cornered by a gang that were watching him from a nearby area. Sweat trickled all over. Maybe running for nearly 10 hours straight should never be a considered option again.

Lungs deflated and breath short, he placed his hand on the brick wall of a run-down building defeated. Even the walls weren't as rough and tense as his fingers were at the moment.

"You thought you could get away with killing our leader, huh?" The man with the shaven mustache and tattoos sneered. Looking at the situation, Ruv was dealing with reckless and tough people. Stupid of me. I should've read who that man really was first.

"If you could tell, I don't really have anything on me, not even money or anything worth living for." The teenager spoke up, still in a defensive stance despite his current state.

The men chuckled. "There's no way out of this one, Ruvyzvat. You've become quite a target lately." A guy holding a peculiarly sharp, long dagger said.

Tension crept up all round, and Ruv felt eyes closing upon him. Uneasy and conflicted, there was only one way to go.

Although the thieves are keeping their eyes on him, he decided that he would run right, where they left out a small space he could squeeze through and get away.

When most of them were distracted by the slightest second, Ruv knew this was his chance. He accelerated, pushing a gust of wind at the gang.

"HEY! BOYS, GET THE CRIMINAL! AVENGE OUR LEADER!" He yelled immediately. Some instantly fired shots and missed them all. The others snapped out of split-second wanderings and dashed after the killer of their beloved leader.

. . .

With his ushanka slipping off, Ruv woke up in a trance for the fifth time in a row. He felt tired, but not because of his usual routine of waking up at 4 in the morning.

Sarv seemed to still be peacefully sleeping in her bedroom. Ruv could tell. He again quietly slipped past her door and headed out of their very tiny apartment to the balcony.

Time felt faster when the air was quiet and not stirring, as if frozen in time. It was a good feeling, to be waiting until everything you want to escape from has finally vanished from your mind.

Ruv was sick of his past, sick of the church and this house with his closest and only friend.

He and Sarv planned to move out the next day, so their currently unused belongings were all ready to go. Sighing, Ruv stared off, questioning whether his days of pick-pocketing and fighting will ever cease to leave his mind for once. Tears threatened to fall, but they never came.

The dark city sky soothed him, and he felt peaceful through this unbearable pain.

He sat there for the rest of the night.

. . .

The Russian woke up on the couch at 7 am. Sarv was dressed and a plate of toast and eggs laid on the coffee table. He yawned lightly.

"G-good morning..." Ruv lazily said, drowsy from last night. Sleep deprivation must've finally got to him.

Sarv walked down the hallway after hearing that. Her face resembled a mix of anger and worry.

"How come I found you passed out on the balcony at 6:00 AM?" Sarv put one hand on her hips.

Ruv was speechless. He was sure that he would be fine and that Sarv could never be able to catch him. I guess it was bound to happen...just like how that gang ended up finding me.

A simple "sorry" came out of his mouth. Ruv looked down at his boots, noticing Sarv's exasperation.

"It's alright...please don't stay up like that again." Sarv pleaded gently.

Ruv would comply, but she doesn't know how it feels to be chased and hated on for a living. He wasn't even willing to say something. When Sarv transformed into a her demon form fighting a kid named Boyfriend recently, Ruv began to not trust his best friend as much as he used to.

"Mh- fine." He looked back up at his companion, still continuing to wear her nun outfit even though her church was dead.

Sarv was pleased and returned to her cheery self once more. "We'll have a lot of things to do today!~" She exclaimed, enjoying business over the usual waiting for people at the church who never came.

"Oh- right." Ruv got up and helped with taking the rest of the belongings in the apartment and inserting them into large boxes.

"We can't forget this- and this!" Sarv took a ton of furniture, while Ruv only took down the tv and the fairy lights dangling behind them.

Ruv grimaced a bit, saying "Don't you think that's too much to bring?"

Sarv leaned against four stacked boxes. "Of course not! This won't be hard to handle anyway." She lifted up all four and put it down at the entrance. "There! See?" She smiled.

In his mind, he face-palmed himself.

"You know what, it's fine." Ruv assured himself quietly.

He didn't even bother to check what was left to pack. He knew that Sarv already finished that task. Her energy is never low.

"Great, we're all set! I'm so excited!!!" Sarv transformed into her demon form out of happiness and flew around gracefully. While she was doing that, Ruv got the boxes through the door. "Isn't this the BEST? Even with the church gone, I feel happy that we're going somewhere new!"

"Y-yeah.." The Russian was used to change, as he had to change his location during the old days, yet didn't like it at all. He thought he'd already told her that he hated new surroundings.

Sarv nudged him by the shoulder. "I know that you didn't get enough sleep, but maybe don't act so grouchy for once! I'm here for you." The demon winked.

"Are you though..?" Ruv whispered so his best friend wouldn't hear.

. . . (LAST TIME SKIP I PROMISE)

The duo headed out to their old van. It was comfortable if you mind the musty smell and its worn out figure. Loading in the packages only took 30 minutes, while the average human would've taken hours. "Can I drive?" Sarv began entering the driver's seat. "Sure, but watch the road. I don't want another accident happening with this van." Ruv sounded sarcastic, but meant his words. She giggled. "Don't worry, we'll be fine!"

But as soon as the keys were in and she hit the gas, the wheels barely moved. "Oh...hehe, I must've done something wrong." She grabbed the key and jammed it back in. The engine rumbled. "There we go." She stated, a ting of annoyance coming from her mouth.

"I swear, if this vehicle stops working-" Ruv started. The engine interrupted, roaring loudly, then slowed down to a pulp. "Whoops..." Sarv fixed her veil and blushed.

The former nun got out of the van. Ruv groaned, going to the back to check if the engine still worked. "It's busted." He said. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" His friend repeated.

"You're okay, no need to worry." He patted her on the back and a flash of pink appeared on her face. That made her flutter around again. "How about we look around for some place to stay for the mean time?" Sarv asked.

"Okay then." Ruv lead the way, and the two walked onto the sidewalk, looking around for anyone nearby who could help. "No offense, but this is why you don't drive." Ruv said.
