While sipping on their drinks casually, Ruv felt anxiety creep up his throat. Surprisingly, it was more difficult to remain calm and keep quiet when around Whitty.
"Uh..." Ruv began.
"Hm?" Whitty responded.
"Nothing." Ruv backed out last minute, taking a large sip of his black coffee.
"No problem." Whitty eyed his green tea Frappuccino, thinking of a conversation starter as well.
Locking eye contact this time, Whitty said, "So...you got a favorite color?"
The Russian, shocked on how random that question was, let out a quiet snort. "It's purple. Yours?"
"Turquoise. Come on, man, just look at my hoodie." Whitty laughed.
Both of them continued to ask simple questions to each other, such as "What weather do you like" and "When's your birthday?". It may have seen awkward to other guests within the café, but the two were happy, blushing and chatting.
Eventually, it led to a question Ruv's never completely considered during his free time.
"This may sound strange, but what's your sexuality? I'm Asexual." Whitty asked.
"Why do you want to know?" Ruv said unintentionally. "Sorry, didn't mean to be defensive."
Whitty just shook it off, chuckling. "I was like that once, too. You do know that Carol's my ex, right?"
"She is?" Ruv replied.
"Yep. She actually was the one who helped me find my sexuality."
Feeling a twinge of jealousy, he said to the bomb, "I'm not sure of mine."
"Oh? I can help you out! You can tell me anytime if this is too personal."
Ruv nodded, enjoying Whitty's respectable nature."Question one: Have you liked anyone?"
You, Ruv thought, then quickly removed that thought by saying "No.""Ah, okay! How about this then: Do women on tv look pretty emotionally or physically, in your opinion?"
"Well, they look nice, but not in that way."
"Alright, no girls then. What if I do this?"
Whitty leaned over the table, slowly approaching Ruv's personal vicinity. His heart accelerated and he moved further away from his crush. How can he do this in public?
The bomb noticed his friend's face, which hinted that he wasn't comfortable.
"My bad, I shouldn't have done that." Whitty sat back in his chair, fumbling with the back of his hood.
"I-it's okay." Ruv returned to normal. He got up and threw his and Whitty's empty cups away. "Wanna go somewhere?" He asked as he reapproached his table.
"Sure! I have an idea on where to go!" Whitty exclaimed, leading Ruv to the door. "Come again!" A young woman at the cash register called out in her high-pitched, cheery voice.
. . .
Whitty's Point of View
Ten minutes later, we arrived at a recognizable place.
"This is...where we met." Ruv said.
"Yeah, but this is not the spot I'm looking for. Follow me for a few more minutes." I replied.
He doesn't think I'm kidnapping him, right?
Ruv gazed around him cautiously, so I decided to reassure him by placing my arm around him.
