7. Hard morning
The evening continued as usual. Hiccup and Astrid continued drinking alcoholic drinks while talking about life and missed opportunities. The mood of the two old acquaintances improved with each glass. Hiccup and Astrid ended up getting drunk and continued talking about life and what they had been through apart from each other. The only difference from the original conversation was that the conversation was more fun and awkward.
Hiccup and Astrid sat at a small table in the corner of the meeting room, surrounded by the laughter and chatter of their old classmates. Glasses of amber liquid clinked, raising a toast to the memories of youth. The room was filled with a mixture of nostalgia and excitement as everyone reminisced about each other's lives.
"Hiccup, it's been so long since we last saw each other," Astrid said, taking a sip of her drink.
Hiccup chuckled. He had not communicated with the beautiful Astrid for so long. He was always a loser unworthy of communicating with the incredible Astrid Hofferson. Those days when he passed by her and her group of friends, when they mocked him in every possible way, she was the only one who treated him well.
"Yes, so much time has already passed..." he muttered uncertainly. "Actually, thank you for always being kind to me," he muttered uncertainly under his breath.
Astrid, already drunk in the noise of the huge room in which her classmates were sitting, did not hear Hiccup's words. Taking the glass in her hands, she glanced in Hiccup's direction.
Astrid raised her glass with a mischievous grin on her face. "For our long-awaited meeting!"
Hiccup looked at her uncertainly, cursing himself for those words. "Fool... Hiccup you idiot," he said to himself.
They clinked glasses and the sound echoed throughout the room. As they took another sip, Hiccup couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia. Memories of those maybe terrible, but at the same time wonderful days for him, with that beautiful Astrid's smile.
Astrid sensed his thoughtfulness and reached out to squeeze his hand. "Hey Hiccup, I know it's bittersweet sometimes. Forgive me for not talking to you like I should have, I just didn't pay attention to it," she whispered to him.
Hiccup nodded, grateful for her understanding. "Thanks Astrid, I'm really fine," he reassured her.
Astrid leaned back in her chair, a curious glint in her eyes. "Speaking of the past, what have you been up to lately? Any new projects or interesting endeavors?"
Hiccup chuckled, his 'passion' for work renewed. "Oh, you know me. I've been working on some new projects, trying to make life a little easier for everyone." - he said
Astrid's eyebrows rose in intrigue. "Sounds exciting, Hiccup. Tell me more."
So, Hiccup began to describe his incredibly exciting job, and his days in this place.
The night continued, filled with laughter, memories and dreams of the future. Hiccup and Astrid's conversation flowed casually, their connection improving. Perhaps as she grew older, Astrid realized how wrong she was about Hiccup. She was terribly ashamed.
As the reunion came to an end, Hiccup and Astrid stood up from the table, as drunk as Gobber after ale.
And when they walked out of the meeting room side by side, they knew that everything was somehow new. Hiccup realized that Astrid was truly as beautiful as ever. The next few days would be just fine for Hiccup.
