Raina stared into space just as Aslan left, the weight of his words pressing down on her. Narnia's in trouble? She wondered. She was a warrior, no doubt, but she was also a Protector. She can't possibly in her right mind not do everything in her power to help.

She began to think back on what Aslan said regarding her will, that it's weak. That it had to do with the emotional ordeal she suffered for over 2 years. She recalls how in Narnia, she was told that her power is connected to her will, that it's her greatest strength, and her worst weapon. The air turned heavy as Aslan's words came back to her, her chest heaved slightly. She turned to her mirror, her eyes no longer sparkling the way they used to. From afar, she seemed like a normal, university student. When you come closer, you see the redness of her eyes, the bags under them, the dry, tired skin, the puffy cheeks, the sheer brokenness that covered just how happy she used to feel before everything.

How do you make your will stronger? She asked herself. It's not exactly rocket science that she hadn't dealt with everything that happened to her. Dealing with it would warrant months of mental torture and anguish, and she can't afford that, not with university starting. It's like she'd be signing her death warrant. But she had to do something.

Raina's eyes fell upon her suitcase. She walked over, and opened a small compartment, and fished out an object wrapped in cloth. She unwrapped it, and found a rose gold ring. There was a large pearl in the centre, with leaf designs on either side, diamonds in them. Despite being over 50 years old, it still sparkled like it was made yesterday.

Raina's vision began to blur, as tears filled her eyes for the first time since she lost her family. The ring she held in her hand was her mother's engagement ring. After she died, the doctor came over to Raina and explained that her mother wanted her to have it. It was a family heirloom. Raina's eyes then fell upon the note, which her mother wrote to her just before she passed. She picked it up and read it.

Dearest Raina,

Things don't seem to be going well for me. I'm afraid to say it, but I don't think I'm getting past this. I'm hearing from my doctors that the treatment isn't doing as well as it should. Oh well, it had to happen sometime.

Not being able to see you and say goodbye will be my biggest regret. I won't see you grow up into the strong, powerful and beautiful woman you are meant to be. But, once this is all over, there is something I want you to have. My engagement ring.

This ring belongs to your Grandma Sophie. Your grandfather proposed to her with this ring. She wore it every day for almost 30 years, before she gave it to your dad, who proposed to me with it, which I have worn since. I'm touching on 20 years of wearing it now. It's an heirloom, and I can't imagine anyone better wearing it now that my time's almost up.

I want you to wear it, on your left ring finger, until you find the one you want to spend your life with. And maybe one day, you can pass it on to your little girl. And when you do, tell her about me, tell her about your grandma, your grandpa, your dad. Tell her to wear it too, until she finds the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with.
