"DON'T LET IT GET IN YOUR HEAD, BROTHER. Three of them and two of us. That's some typical Kook shit right there,"

   "Hell yeah,"

Kie, Pope, Oak, and JJ all wander inside Heyward's, shop, helping with some early morning groceries and well-needed cleaning here and there. Oakley stands behind the counter next to Kie while JJ simply plays around with a ball, completely avoiding the actual reason why they're there— helping.

"What was your thought process, using your head?" JJ asks just as Oakley chuckles softly.

"I don't know, man. I just kind of acted off instinct, alright? I was— cornered in," Pope replied.

"Oh, instinct," Oakley laughs, walking around the counter and helping somebody by handing them a bag of tomatoes they had been looking for.

   "Yes,"

She chuckles and nods to the man that thanks her before joining JJ's side, the boy shooting her a beaming smile with his cut lip and puffy eyes.

"Hey, Pope, someone here to see you," Heyward suddenly steps into the shop.

The look in his eyes says no good news, and Shoupe trailing inside right after him speaks way worse. Oakley's eyes widen slightly as her smile falls slowly.

   "Evening, officer—"

"I have an arrest warrant for felony destruction of property,"

Oakley's eyes widen into golf balls and her mouth falls open as she watches the officer walk towards her best friend. The poor boy turns to them with the purest, more heart-wrenching look of dread that makes Oakley gulp as she shakes her head.

"Keep your hands on the counter where I can see 'em,"

"Whoa, whoa. Shoupe, what'd he do?" Heyward tries desperately, puzzled by the whole ordeal.

"Take a look at the warrant," Shoupe replies coldly.

"That's not an explanation, Shoupe! Let go of him," Oakley begins as chaos breaks lose.

The girl goes to take a step when JJ holds her arm and pulls her back. Without a second thought, she pulls her arm off his grip and walks towards the arrested boy, drowning out the complaints of the people around her and the dismayed pleads of Heyward for his son to be freed.

"Come on, Shoupe. You know he didn't do anything!" Oakley begs, putting her hand on Pope's cuffed wrist.

"Step away, Oak," the officer says calmly as he starts to guide the boy outside.

Oakley follows after them, the screaming around causing her head to pound and her heart to go a million times faster. Her hands begin to sweat and her breathing picks up as her cheekbones burn redder under the stress. She tries to hold him back, tries to comfort Pope by telling him that they would figure this out, but the officer hears no teen and the boy is in too much shock to speak up for himself. JJ even tries to fight Shoupe but he is held back by Heyward, the man knowing of the boy's issued background.
