THE HURRICANE DID COME. Just like Oakley had warned, Hurricane Agatha soared into the Outer Banks with the heaviest winds and the most aggressive rainstorm that had hit the island since 2016. Alarms blared around the port and the message spread all the way to the outskirts of the island, and the citizens sought shelter in the safety of their homes as soon as the warnings came around.

But. . . some just can't stay at home.

"It's a double overhead out there, guys!"

Pope, John B, and Oakley run through the damp sand down to the beach with their boards under their arms. The wind howls and the raindrops hit their skin with such potency it forces them to squint their eyes and try to see through the thick shower of water. The warning siren echoes around them and the violent crashing of the waves combine with the thunder that cackles above them.

Oakley never says no to a surfing break.

"Double overhead?" the three stop on top of a short sandhill, overlooking the wild ocean that roars and slams into the shore mercilessly.

Oakley breathes heavily as the rain gets into her eyes and fills her mouth. Her hair is completely drenched as it stays stuck to her bare back, a pink strapless bikini covering her body. Thunder lights up the sky and growls in fury, the ocean replies by creating giant waves and turbulence amongst its waters. It's a death trap, but then again, Pogues never do anything that doesn't risk their lives.

At least they'd die in a cool way.

"Agatha's going through a divorce," Oakley comments, making the two boys laugh.

"Nah, dude, she's going through the five stages of grief," Pope follows along.

Oakley smiles as she bounces on her heels, eagerly biting down onto her bottom lip.

"Okay boys, what are we waiting for?"

She looks at them, noticing Pope's hesitation as he shakes his head and looks between the two life-riskers.

   "Those aren't surfable waves, guys,"

John B laughs as he slaps Oakley's arm humorously, making her laugh along with him as they mock Pope's concern. Oakley rolls her eyes and begins to run for the waves, John B pats Pope's shoulder and goes to follow her.

   "Says who?"

Two out of the three best friends sprint into the deep blue sea that enlarges by the second. They woo and cheer in excitement as their bare feet sink into the sand and splash into the ferocious waters. Oakley throws her board into the water, jumping on her stomach and rowing into the waves with the help of her arms.

"It's half past party time, fellas!" She grins as she turns to her boys.

John B smiles as his gaze strays past the girl, "Incoming!"
