(Y/n) walked the crowded halls of his school. People acknowledged his existence just enough to not plow into him or knock him into a random wall. That being said, no one was going out of their way to talk to him either. Although to be fair, he wasn't exactly jumping at the opportunity to talk to people.

He shook his head, dismissing the thoughts from his head. He was almost to class and if he got to it before the bell, he could draw or play on his phone or whatever he deemed necessary to do before class.

The (h/c) haired boy was just about to step into the classroom, but came to a screeching halt. Before his eyes, the room began eating itself from the inside. (Y/n) took a step back as the walls around the doorframe began to crack and splinter, throwing bits of brick at him.

He started to back up faster when the darkness that occupied the space where the classroom once was started leaking out of the door. Shadowy tendrils climbed out of the void and were quickly making their way towards him.

The other students who were in the hall simply stopped what they were doing and allowed the shadows to eat them alive. (Y/n) hesitated when he saw a few familiar faces --a friend of his and a few people in his class--, but turned back when the shadows wormed their way closer.

It chased him through the halls, eating more of the school as it went. If (Y/n) could just make it to the front doors, he'd be able to escape this. The shadows were quickly gaining on him.

He turned a corner and suddenly, the doors were in sight.

Until they weren't.

(Y/n)'s chance at escape was blocked by a large beast made out of the same shadows that were chasing him. It's body towered over him and blocked out the light that once seeped through the windows. The only part of it's body that wasn't inky black was the two blinding white orbs that (Y/n) guessed were it's eyes.

It growled at (Y/n) and with a flick of it's talons, the shadows behind the boy began closing in on him. A clawed hand reached from the darkness and wrapped around his leg. (Y/n) let out a surprised yelp at the contact that was followed by a pain-filled hiss.

The hand was cold-- freezing. It felt like it incased (Y/n)'s leg in an invisible layer of ice. At the same time, it scorched his skin, burning all the way to the bone.

(Y/n) yanked his foot away from the hand, but to no avail. His attention was stolen by a growl; one that shook what was left of the school. The beast took two steps towards him. It's talons --which were each the size of (Y/n)'s forearm-- glistened dangerously in the last of the light before it blocked it out completely.

Once (Y/n) was plunged in darkness, he heard another growl. This growl came from what must've been arm's length away at most. He took as much of a step back as the hand --that was still firmly attached to his leg-- would allow.

A sharp and agonizing pain ripped itself though (Y/n)'s right arm. His mouth opened in a silent scream as he felt himself being picked up by the beast. It gnawed on his limbs, but wouldn't let him die. It wouldn't even let him scream. When he tried to do so, his screams got caught in his throat and were replaced by soft whimpers.

This went on for what had to have been hours until it got bored of (Y/n). So, it dropped him.

(Y/n) felt himself plunge into what felt like water. He couldn't see anything, but he could feel the water. It was cold. The cold helped numb some of the pain. But it was too cold.

(Y/n) snapped his eyes open when he noticed just how cold the water really was. He tried swimming up --or the direction he guessed was up. He didn't get very far until another clawed hand wrapped around his ankle. This one wasn't the same cold but hot as the first. No, this one was just hot.
