It was safe to say that 99% of the time, Saiki knew what he was doing. If he didn't, he could usually figure it out fairly quick.
But this.
This broke him. The soft buzz that covered (Y/n)'s thoughts suddenly became deafening, overtaking all other thoughts the psychic was hearing.
(Y/n)'s face jumped from one emotion to the next. One moment he would he would simply be wearing a blank expression and the next his face would scrunch up in what looked like panic. Saiki watched as a fearful expression overtook the unconscious male's face and was quickly replaced by a pain-filled one. (Y/n)'s body gave a violent shutter that was accompanied by a whimper.
Saiki's eyes were torn from (Y/n)'s face by what looked like red slashes appearing on his limbs. It looked like someone had given him deep gashes, but none of them were over the skin. They all just appeared all red and angry underneath the top layer of skin.
The psychic snapped out of his daze when he saw this. He might not know what to do about (Y/n)'s fuzzy thoughts or whatever else was happening to him, but if he was injured, Saiki could help.
All he'd have to do was turn back time. That would fix it, right? Well, there was only one way to find out.
He reached his hand towards the unconscious boy, but froze just before touching (Y/n)'s shoulder. It wasn't until closer inspection that he realized that (Y/n) was twitching ever so slightly. Well, he was but he wasn't. He was moving a bit too fast, to the point where it almost looked like parts of him were blinking out of existence and back again.
Saiki knew that was impossible —just an illusion created by his mind— but it unsettled him nonetheless. He decided to question it later. He was not about to sit back and watch as one of the few people he cared about lay unconscious and in pain.
His hand was practically grazing the other boy's hair when (Y/n)'s eyes flew open. Saiki was quick to retract his hand as those (e/c) orbs he had grown so accustomed to blinked and looked owlishly up at him.
The odd not-cuts vanished from (Y/n)'s body the moment he woke up. The boy winced in pain before finally opening his mouth. "W-what.." he trailed off, inspecting his seemingly limp arms, "What happened?"
Saiki had no idea how to answer his question. It should have been easy. A simple 'oh, you passed out, flailed around a bit, then woke up' would have sufficed. But for some reason, Saiki felt like it was not that simple. It felt like the kind of thing that needed looked into at the very least.
Despite his reasoning as to why he should tell (Y/n) what happened, Saiki did nothing of the sort. 'I have no idea' he answered. He knew it would probably come back to haunt him in the future but that was for future him to deal with. The psychic was not about to give (Y/n) another thing to worry about. The poor boy had enough on his worry list.
(Y/n) hummed in response. He then gave his full attention to his limbs. He furrowed his eyebrows and and stared at them with a confused look. After a few seconds of this, he blinked a few times before sending the other boy smile. It was obviously a fake one and Saiki did not need to be a psychic to figure out that it was an attempt at hiding a mix of worry and panic.
As Saiki watched (Y/n) struggle with his unresponsive limbs, it became increasingly clear that he was not going to ask for help. The psychic added that to the list of things he did not understand about the boy. Why would (Y/n) not ask for help when someone who could heal him with a simple touch was standing in front of him?
Well, if (Y/n) was not going to ask for help, Saiki was just going to give it to him anyway. After all, the (h/c) haired boy had 'I'm not sure what's happening and I'm very worried about it' written all over his face.
Saiki placed his hand on (Y/n)'s head and turned back time on him. (Y/n) blinked in confusion before lifting himself to his feet. "Thank, uhh.. thank you" he was still staring at his arms, as if he was expecting them to fall off and crawl into the floorboards.
(Y/n) then seemed to snap out of it. He looked less dazed and he had a better grasp on reality. "Thank you" he said, looking Saiki in the eyes that time.
'What was that?' Saiki asked. He really was not used to being confused by something. It was an odd feeling. How do normal people deal with this?
"I have no idea.. I've never passed out like that before" (Y/n) said.
The two lapsed into silence. Neither had anything to say —what could be said? Neither had had a clue as to why (Y/n) passed out and the poor boy was obviously shaken up by it but he kept quiet about his emotions.
"So... do you wanna go watch anime and pretend this never happened?" (Y/n) asked, an awkward smile on his lips. 'Sure' Saiki agreed.
With that, the two boys retreated into Saiki's room.
~~~~~
Despite what (Y/n) said, he certainly did not forget what happened. He was glad that Saiki could no longer read his mind. The psychic would probably be sick of hearing (Y/n) overthink what happened.
(Y/n) sat in his usual spot for when the two watched TV together. That is, beside Saiki with his head on the psychic's shoulder. Even after all of the time they knew each other, Saiki had yet to say anything about (Y/n) practically laying on him. So until that happened, (Y/n) would stay right where he was.
Saiki was a lot less stiff than he was the first time (Y/n) used him as a human pillow.
He had no idea what show they were watching. He was not paying attention when Saiki picked it and just agreed to whatever he wanted to watch. Whatever show it was, it was really good.
The animation alone was beautiful and (Y/n) found himself fawning over the character's fluent movements for the passed few minutes. It was gorgeous.
Or he was just crazy. Maybe both.
(Y/n) glanced towards Saiki. If he had to be stuck in another universe, he was glad it was here. Yes, he would miss some people but he could not help but think about what it would be like to stay there.
He had a roof over his head, a good family to stay with, some friends, and Saiki.
(Y/n) turned back to the show, this time with a content smile on his face. Yeah,
Staying here wouldn't be bad.
