It was the next morning and the golden rays of the sun gently woke the both of us up. I felt Connor adjusting his position under me as he was waking up to look out his window. I propped myself up a little, raising my head off of his chest, hair draping messily over my face.

"Good morning." I mumbled while squinting my eyes, still sensitive to the bright light. Last night we fell asleep together after a tender and passionate kissing session. It also became very sensual at times since we both disrobed each other. We didn't fully undress, of course. I just helped take Connor's trousers and shirt off, and he was quite the champion last night by maintaining his patience while unbuttoning my gown, unlacing my stays, and helping me take off my shoes and socks. Resting on Connor's chest was like heaven. He radiated such a scorching warmth that I knew during the winter months I am never going to get cold ever again.

Connor sighed as he looked down at me, taking his hand to brush the hairs out of my face before rubbing my upper back.

"Good morning." He smiled.

"So, what shall we do today?" He asked as he scooted himself back to sit up against the headboard. I moved off of him and rested my head on the pillow next to us, laying on my side still.

"We should begin to prepare for our big day. We should discuss how we want to do all of this. What should the ceremony consist of, what food will be served at the afterparty... What day do we want to get married? Oh, there's so much to plan!" I got giddy thinking about how our day will be absolutely perfect.

"I am not sure where to even start." He mumbled as he scratched the back of his head.

"Hmm... Well why don't we start with a date? What day would we like to get married?"

Connor pondered for a moment and crossed his arms.

"October. By that time I should be fully healed. How about October sixth?"

"Okay, that sounds perfect. With today being July twenty sixth, that gives us a little over three months to plan." I decided to adjust myself to sit up alongside Connor.

"Um, what... What are your wedding customs?" I asked as I reached over to grab Connor's hand.

"They are a bit complicated. It involves an entire village to plan." I chuckled at his response.

"So are Colonial weddings. Well go ahead, tell me what has to happen!"

"Well..." Connor breathed in deeply before continuing. "Our situation is different, but traditionally, our mothers would be heavily involved. They would go and speak with the chiefs of all Mohawk tribes and ask if they approve of our union. I suppose I am the 'chief' of the Homestead, and of course I approve of our marriage." Connor squeezed my hand and I giggled as he continued.

"Then the chiefs would announce our marriage and preparations would begin. Both of us would wear white doeskin leather on the marriage day, yours being a dress and mine would be a shirt and trousers. The village would help craft these clothes for us, but we would be the ones to decorate them. Then we would have to make wedding baskets to offer each other as gifts on the day of the wedding after we and our mothers are asked a few questions by the chief. Then we celebrate with a dance and a feast afterwards. That is our wedding ceremony in a simplified manner."

"Hmm... That's interesting, our fathers take more of a part in our ceremonies."

"Yes, I have been told. I was the one that walked Myriam down the aisle for her wedding, as her father's whereabouts were unknown."

"Really? Oh, that's so sweet." He nodded his head, lightly curling his lips into a small smile.

"Since your father will not be present, do you have anyone in mind that could walk you down the aisle?"
