Nya's POV

"Yeesh. You look like a wreck," Kai states flatly, dumping his bag on the ground, "What happened, did you fail a class or something?"

"No." I sniffle. Kai comes into view, before grabbing my cushion. I tug back on it, but my brother overpowers me, prying the pile of feathers out of my hands, nearly stumbling over the coffee table in the process.

"I'm just gonna let you stew for a while, and I'll get a start on dinner."

My eyes searched the room "Aren't you supposed to be packing to go back to campus?" It hits me that Jay too, will be preparing to fly out of Ninjago tomorrow night, and back to Terra Technica to finish his university semester. More tears flood down my cheeks, and Kai strokes my head, "I have the apprenticeship for a few more weeks so I won't be going back to finish the semester. Now, do you want to tell me what on Earth is going on with you?"

"I told Jay I didn't want to be with him."

"You're joking, right?"

I glare up at Kai, hurling another cushion at him, "Does it look like I'm joking?"

"Okay, okay, yeesh! Go get changed and just...vent it all out, okay? We'll figure something out. Go, before you stain the cases."

Sitting up, I smooth out my skirt, "It's tears; it'll dry."

"Just- go get changed!"

***

Days passed, and still no word from Jay. Or anyone, really.

Right, right, right. I'd turned my phone off and let it rot unattended on my desk so I could mope in silence. My blinds were shut and the lights were off, and I was laying flat on my bed, hugging my pillow close to my chest.

So yeah, I was taking this really well indeed.

Jay must be in his dorm right now, or going to lectures, or going out on dates with other girls, considering it's around evening there. He's probably doing a lot better than me right now.

The door to my room bursts open and Kai marches in, "Okay, this is getting ridiculous! Nya, you're gonna call Jay up right now and tell him you love him, or so help me God I will drag you by the ear to Terra Technica so you can do it in person!"

"He's probably having the time of his life at uni," I whimper, "I don't want to ruin that for him."

The cactus took a heavy sigh, before seating himself on my bed, "He's really not. I still speak to him-"

My head jerks away from my pillow, "What? You do? H-How is he?"

"Why don't you ask him yourself? Nya, he still speaks of you. He misses you like crazy."

"I can't ask him."

"Why not?" Kai reaches out and strokes my head, "Give me one good reason as to why you can't call him and tell him how you feel."

"Because if it ever develops into a relationship, I'll screw up and break his heart."

"Sis, you're breaking his heart already, and yours too. You're so afraid to get into a new relationship that you're pushing him away and keeping your walls up! I hate seeing you like this, it's painful!"

"Should I have said yes, Kai?"

He tuts lightly, now weaving braids through my hair, "It's not too late. Considering how much you've saved up since middle school, it should be enough. And with Mom or Dad's Frequent Flyer card, it'll be perfect!"
