As we took a step out of Christina's room and walked down at the hallway, we stared at each other again, only to suddenly crack up laughing.
"What was that?" I laughed holding my stomach as it starts to tense up making it hard to breath.
"YUP" Evangeline laughs as she leans on the wall trying not to kneel at the ground.
"Ahahah, are we really leaving him in there?" I asks taking deep breath while laughing, making myself look like I'm suffocating. Somehow.
"Guess so" controlling her laughter into exaggerating wheezes.
"Hey, let me show you around" grabbing my hand taking me with her. Honestly, I wanted to refuse because I've already looked around the house. But I kept my mouth shut. This might be another good opportunity, for us to like. You know. BOND.But I was right to keep my mouth shut after all. Evangeline took me outside and deep into the little forest they had outside.
"I'm guessing you've already taken a look inside, so just let me take you outside" She laughs pulling me with her. As we ran into the middle of the forest, I could see a shadow in the corner of my eye pausing my run as Evangelines hand slips from mine.
"Is something the matter?" She asks, slowing down her pace looking at me confused.
"I thought I saw something..." looking into the trees where I saw the shadow. It could be just my imagination but I'm pretty sure I saw something. Something with red eyes.
"Is that so?" she mumbles staring off into the direction I am looking at. I look over to her to see her smile as the look in her eyes seemed more warm and inviting. It was like she had a double personality. One minute she's murderous and bitchy, the next she's nice and... nice.Suddenly I remembered about them saying something about the intruder being their friend, 'Judar'.
"Judar?", but she didn't reply to me. She simply smiled, then grabbed my hand and continued our walk into the forest. We walked in silence for awhile until we got to a little well."This is where Raven and I used to play" giggles Evangeline, tracing her fingers on the rim of the well mossy well.
"and Him."
"Him?"
"Judar" she replies kneeling down at the well. There was a circle with really detailed curvings and little letters of some language around it.
"Alchemy?" I asked remembering something that looked like it in one of the books in our apartment.
"Yeah! It's supposed to be some kind lucky charm..." she replies as her smile saddens to a frown."What happened?"
"The original owners of this mansion, died shortly after we did this."I didn't need to ask my next question, 'Did you know them?'. She looked like she was on the verge of crying. That was when I heard a rustling in the tree's. I spun around to see who it was. But the presence of the person had already disappeared without a trace.
I kneeled down next to Evangeline rubbing her back as small tears fall down her cheeks.
"You can just ask, I know what your thinking" she chokes under her tears."They were our saviours"
"Saviours?" I asked. Sitting down on a piece of brick that had fallen off the well.
"When we were still young, our parents abandoned us on the streets." she starts, wiping her tears away from her eyes.
"No one came and helped us, so we had to live on our own for five years by stealing food and money. Raven and I knew we were breaking the laws, but we had to do it to survive but no one really cared about us since we were only stealing off people that they hated. It was until we stole from the wrong person." pausing to look down at her skirt as her hands start scrunching up her dress. My hand reached for hers telling her that it was alright. She lifted up her eyes and smiled.
"Maybe its better to explain it like this" she says grabbing my hand holding it up to her lips. Thinking she was going to kiss my hand, I was about to pull it away but suddenly the world around changed. The forest that we were in and the well we were sitting next to disappeared. Replaced by a gloomy town with people lying down on the streets against buildings or sleeping on the door steps.
"RAVEN!" calls a voice from behind. Spinning around, I saw a girl with black shoulder length hair running towards me with a handful of bread.
"Hey, do you know where I a-" I asked but gasped as the running girl ran straight through me. I grabbed my stomach to see if there was a hole, there was nothing. The girl ran into a little tent held up with a wooden stick of some sort. Following her into the tent, I kneeled down, poking my head into the tent to see what was in side. The girl was sitting next to a pale looking boy with black hair as he wraps himself in a dirty blanket.
"Come on Raven! You have to eat!" insists the girl as she pokes some bread into his face. He takes the bread only to shove it in her mouth.
"Sorry Evie, I'm not hungry" he smiles, grabbing the blanket and covering it over his head.
"But... You never eat." sobs the girl as she holds the bread in her hands.Staring at the sobbing girl, I stretched my hand into the tent to wipe the tears off her face trying to comfort her, but my hands just go straight through her face. Surprised, I pulled my hand back. Thinking about it for awhile, I started waving my hand through the girl. It was like I didn't exist. The girl jolted up looking at me all of a sudden as I saw small hand stretching out to her from me. Jumping back outside of the tent, I saw a little boy bending down to them from right where I was sitting. He grabbed both the girl and the boy inside of the tent as he pulled them out.
"These are the people that stole the bread that you told me to buy Mistress!" exclaims the boy, holding onto the boy and the girl as she starts screaming trying to pull away from him, while her brother stands next to the boy with his lifeless eyes looking at a lady with black hair in a long dark blue dress."Is that so?" she replies walking towards the two struggling children. I wanted to run at her tackling her down to the ground, ruining that beautiful dress of hers, but I couldn't touch anyone.
"Do you want that food?" smiles the lady as the girl stops struggling and nods."Yes"
