The memories keep playing in his mind. The flashback. It keeps coming back whenever he tries to forget about it.Last words that you gave him. It's still playing in his mind. It's haunting him every night.

He still remember the first time he met you. It was stupid. You two were just trying to buy something from the cats shop. He was holding a lot of boxes , not sure what's inside of it but sure it was a lot. He didn't see you coming in his way and you didn't see him coming in your way. You both were rushing , suddenly you two bumped into each other.
"I'm so sorry !" Chifuyu apologies.
"No no , I should be the one who apologize to you, you were holding boxes and I didn't see you." you said nervously.
You helped him pick all the boxes up and he thanked you.
"Wait ! Can I know your name ?"
"Ah ! It's Chifuyu Matsuno , you can call me Chifuyu, what about you ?" he asked with a soft tone.
"It's F/N L/N , you can call me Y/N." You addressed with a soft smile. What a beautiful smile. The smile that made him fall in love with you. Since that situation you guys started to hang out even more, you guys even exchange your numbers.

You guys started dating on your 14th birthday. He asked you out on that day hoping that you will accept him. He was so relieved when he heard that you agree to go out with him.
You two were a very sweet couple. Always there for each other, even at his worst time, you're still grateful for him , and always tell him that he's enough. He can't believe that he deserves someone like you. Someone this kind and loyal.

You would always scold him if he's not taking care of himself, not resting enough , not eating and drinking enough. You'd scold him for his own good. So that he's used to take care of himself. Even in that side of yours, he still loves you, he secretly loves it when you're mad at him. He finds it cute of how you're worried about him and scold him for not taking care of himself.

You guys were such a happy couple, his relationship with you was so smooth, no arguements , well you two do fight sometimes but you guys figure it out so well. You guys were meant to be with each other.

Until one day, you find out that you have cancer. You can't accept it at first, because what if you don't survive and you will not be able to live with Chifuyu until the old of you two. You were so scared to talk to him about it. But you gain up all the courage to tell him about it. So you texted him.

It was wholesome at first, you both talk about the future you would live in, about how you both want to live with each other when you grow up. 'But will I be able to make it out alive ?' The thought keep running in your mind throughout the conversation.

You finally took the courage to tell him about it.
"Hey chifuyu."
"Hm ? What is it y/n ?"
"What if one day, I die from a severe illness that can't be heal ? And we won't be able to do all the things we planned ?" you said almost tearing up. But you pulled it back in.
"What do you mean y/n ? You're making me nervous." he said nervously chuckled.
"I have cancer, chifuyu." you said with tears running down to your cheeks. It was silence at first. No words were coming out from his mouth instead the sound of your sobbing.
"Then we'll find a way to heal you, and you will be safe. We will live together until we grow old." he responded smiling weakly. You can tell he was hurt. You can see the pain in his eyes.
"I'm sorry.." You said sobbing. He pulled you in a hug and rubs your back.
"What are you apologizing for y/n, it's not your fault." kissing your forehead trying to comfort you.
"We'll figure it out my love."

Day by day your condition are getting worse. The chance to live are getting lower. Day by day you're losing hope and starting to accept it. But Chifuyu still not giving up. He trusts you, he believes that you could fight it. But a warrior can't keep fighting. If it's the time then it's the time to go. We can't change the fate.

The doctor said you only have a few days left. 6 days before chifuyu's birthday. What would chifuyu feel about this, wouldn't he be sad ? You're mad at yourself that you couldn't fight it, you'll make him sad on his very own birthday. But what can you do ? There's no way to save you anymore.

Chifuyu's POV
"It's my birthday !" I said to myself before getting up from my bed.
"I wonder how y/n will react..."
"You'll survive from it my love, we'll stay together until we grow old. We already promised that." I said looking in the mirror.

I decided to visits y/n at the hospital. With a feeling of excitement to meet them. I already arrived at y/n's room level floor. But when I walked to their room.
It was chaos, the doctors coming out from the room, sounds of sobbing heard from the room, and now here I am. Y/N.
Y/N's dead. But it couldn't be right, we tried our best, where , where did we go wrong. My breathe getting heavier, my vision starting to get blurry, y/n's figure laying down on the bed. I took them into my arms.
"Hey y/n, I came, we promised that we will not grow apart right ? Why are you leaving me like this ? Am I not enough ?" I whisper in their ear wishing that they would say something.
"Come on love, answer me. Don't do me like this." I said sobbing. It's the end now. Y/N's no longer here. I'm left alone now.

The flashback that haunting him every night. It hurts him so much that he can feel the pain physically. He was your first love and last love. He promised to protect you. But he failed.

Looking at his bedroom table. There was a letter at his table. Your last letter for him, he wasn't ready to read it yet. But he got up and take the letter. Written on the letter...

To my dearest chifuyu,

Hey love, when you receive this letter. I might not be here anymore right ? First of all, I want to apologize. I couldn't keep our promise. We promised to grow old together right ? I'm sorry honey, I'm sorry I couldn't make it a reality. I'm sorry I left you all alone.
But don't let my death stop you from doing anything. Please continue to live your life and be the happiest person in this world. Even if one day, you're happy with someone else, it's okay. I just want you to be happy. Grow old and be happy chifuyu, you deserves happiness. Take this as my last goodbye and my last words for you. You'll grow older and might find somebody else. But I have only three favor for you.
Here's the list :

1.Please take care of yourself. I beg you to.

2. Please treat your new partner the same way you treated me when I was alive. Treat them with love and attention.

3.And lastly, I want you to cherish every moment that you had with me. I never want you to forget about me but don't let it stop you from being happy.

Tears began to fall from his eyes. He misses you so much that it hurts. He just want to see you once more and hear your voice. Even if it's just you scolding him, he would be grateful just to hear your voice once again. To hold you for the last time again. But he can't do anything. There's no way to bring you back.
